But that was what I enjoyed about the original Friday the 13th - the kids weren't annoying. They actually seemed like friends. As opposed to films today where I can't figure out why these people are even hanging with each other. Take a film like Cabin Fever. Other than Jordan Ladd and Rider Strong, I don't see how any of them would even be on vacation together. They seemed to hate each other. And that seems to be what we are seeing with horror films today versus the horror films of the late 70s-80s. In those films, the kids were mischievous, but it was playful pranks on one another.
Sorry to turn this into a rant if it's seen that way. This is just one of those peeves I have.
Cheers,
Jason

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!
Joe, your point is taken well. I feel the same way about Jason and definitely want to see him bring on the pain. However I also want to like the characters because it is in their exchanges with one another that the majority of the runtime exists. One of the reasons I enjoyed Adam Green's Hatchet so much is because of his main characters and their banter back and forth. They were clearly great friends and it made the film so enjoyable. I also loved Victor tearing everyone apart in increasingly gruesome gags, but the mainstay of the film was the heart and friendship of the main pair.
I have to run now or I'd write more. Maybe another time.
Cheers,
Jason

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!
I'll echo the sentiments of Travis here.
I think a big part of Friday the 13th's allure are the creative kills. I know that the original Friday the 13th had people talking about Savin's FX work as though they were some sort of magic trick. And they are!
But, that said, I don't think I've ever ROOTED for Jason. I want to be afraid of him. And with the exception of Friday 5, I don't think the first six films had very many annoying characters. I liked the vast majority of them.
It actually wasn't until Jason x and FvJ that the machete fodder became close to intolerable for me.
So, I hope this new film is a real return to form for Jason and his victims. I want gory and nasty kills, but I also hope I like the victims!
Universal, please release Streets of Fire on Blu-ray.

David, thanks for the link to that clip. I echo the applause of the audience there. Looks like a fun ride! I seriously can't wait.

Nice trailer, they showed a bit too much, though.
Still, it was awesome to see Jason

Exclusive: Paramount Planning NEW Friday the 13th Box Set! | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central
Now that sounds promising!
Time will tell if we finally get uncensored versions of Parts 1 through to 8...
It's a 'need to know' situation, Paramount need to know we want F13th 2-8's restored and uncensored. No amount of talking head extras will do.

Did anyone else hear that sound? It sounded an aweful lot like a can of worms being opened.

Cool news, hopefully a Blu-ray release will coincide with the DVD release.

It's gonna get messy. Lots of blood gonna be spilt before Friday February the 13th 2009, that's for sure.
I'm most excited for an uncut Friday the 13th Part V A New Beginning, oh and Part VII The New Blood. I reckon we'll have more of a chance of a uncensored Psycho before that lots makes it out unscathed.

Oh yes indeed, it's gonna get messy, I still have blood stains on my cloths from the last thread that talked about the possibility of getting these uncut.
I'm preparing for the worst in that we will once again be getting the theatrical cuts of the films.

Seriously this was, and most likely still is, a very touchy subject for Friday fans, when the news hit that the
Friday the 13th Ultimate DVD Collection would be the R rated cuts...it wasn't pretty.

Re: "Friday the 13th PART 11"!! Friday October 13th!
I bought the box set (and New Line films) last year which replaced the one and only VHS I had (of the original film). It was the highlight of my October viewing watching all those. I love most of these films.
I'd probably rebuy the original, and maybe 1st sequel, for some extra gory bits...but not the rest. Even so, I find most of them entertaining as is.
Happy Birthday to Harry Crosby, btw. One of the kids from F13th.
