Hey Steve!

I just went through this with somebody else a few days ago. Check out THIS THREAD.

Pretty much the same thing applies to you, I think. I'm not sure how these gamercard things work. But if its a graphic which appears at the xbox site...you should be able to right click on the graphic, click on "copy link location", and paste it into your signature profile inside some "img" tags (as explained in that other thread.

You should be all set.

Good luck!

Thanks, but I still can't get it to work. Maybe if you posted what you typed in the signature box to get your picture to come up?

Just put in there and see what happens. Forget about the "src", "scrolling", whatever, just type in [ IMG ]http://gamercard.xbox.com/Gatorman Steve.card[ / IMG ] but without the spaces in the brackets, so: and see if it works. It may not, because ".card" is not a normal image format.

Steve use the "IMG" button, add your url and press ok so it looks something like this:

[IMG]http://gamercard.xbox.com/Gatorman Steve.card[/IMG)

But don't forget your image has to be hosted somewhere online (not from your desk top), Photobucket.com is free and easy and thats what I use all the time, my signature shot is at Photobucket and linked here. And make sure it's an image i.e. JPEG or jpg not 'card'

Hmmmmmm.

I took the URL you've got posted in your sig right now, Steve, and placed it inside the IMG tags and can't see anything. See post above.

But, when I place that URL in my browser and click "go" I go right to the page where the graphic is hosted.

Hmmmmmmm.

We're close.

[ img ]http://gamercard.xbox.com/Gatorman Steve.card[ /img ] This is what it should look like...but without the spaces surrounding the img tags inside the brackets. Usually that would get the image to appear in the post.

Either the other dude with the gamercard graphic in his sig...or Parker Clack (HTF co-owner & IT wiz) will come to your rescue.

Steve, may I suggest that if you can't get the image to show up, simply put the address in the your signature (without the brackets you currently have), and that way it would appear as a clickable link in case someone wants to view it.

Good idea, Scott. If there's some peculiar reason the image cannot appear here (but apparently it does for others), he could put a link to it...but he would also need to add URL tags before & after the link. That's what I did two posts ago at the very bottom where it says "Click here!".

I think the problem is that the Xbox Game Card's are not simply a single static image. They are ID's with multiple (6) links depending on where you click on the card.

I think Mike's suggestion is the best. Make a screenshot of your card, and give it a URL link that will open a new page with your card info on it.

For example:

replace the {} for []

{URL=http://gamercard.xbox.com/Gatorman%20Steve.card}{IMG} http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y10...ormanSteve.jpg{IMG}{/URL}

In addition, I think the info on the card is subject to change so if you always want the pic to be current, you'll have to update it occasionally.

If you would like to take Ron up on his offer to host your pic, and you want to use this one, feel free to let him know and he can copy and host it. If you would like to host the pic yourself or with a different site, but would like to use it while you try and find a host, I’ll be happy to continue hosting it for you until that time.

Steve, I was just trying to do the same thing myself, and tried some of the same things that you did. It appears that you just captured a static screenshot, correct? Has anyone figured out a way to hotlink these to the live content on the xbox.com server?

For now I've just put a regular hotlink in there, but if there's a better way to set this up that we could investigate, I'd be all for it.

Thanks guys!

Hey, not sure what to do to get it to work with all the links. Hopefully someone figures it out as it does work with my gamercard on other webites. Thanks RON! My signature looks great now!

I might have found a solution. I found a site called mygamercard.net (someone posted a link to it in the gamertag thread), which creates a dynamically updating jpeg version of your gamercard that looks like this:

The HTF policy seems to frown on linking to images on external servers for signatures though. Could this site be allowed for members to hotlink their gamercards though? I'm assuming that the rationalie is to keep people from putting malicious links in their posts, correct?

Anyhow, this is one possible solution.

Steve,

If you are still monitoring this thread, here is the site that will constantly update and host your Xbox Game Card:

http://card.mygamercard.net

Replace what you have now in your signature setting with the following:

replace all the { & }'s with [ & ]'s to activate the vB codes

{URL=http://gamercard.xbox.com/Gatorman%20Steve.card}{IMG}http://card.mygamercard.net/Gatorman%20Steve.jpg{/IMG}{/URL}

If done correctly you will see the following in your sig, and anyone who clicks on it will link directly to your card so that they can use the individual links available with the original card:

This should finally get as close to what you originally asked for as possible.

Chris:

The issue with the gamecard link was that the external server wasn't allowing the image through so it isn't a problem in this case. We only frown on links to external sites for DVD Reviews, etc. not for the majority of images.
