so why haven't we seen ace ventura 3 yet?

Let's look at some things here...

Ace Ventura 1 and 2 made some serious $$$$

Jim Carrey doesn't do sequels *aside from ace ventura 2*

Studios milk everything so why haven't they miled Ace Ventura 3?

Don't say Jim Carrey isn't up for it this time in his career because $$$$$$ talks.

Any thoughts?

I know you said not to, but I doubt Jim Carrey is up for it. $$$$$$ doesn't always talk since he turned down Dumb and Dumber 2 and the Mask 2.

But don't get me wrong, I would love to see an Ace Ventura 3, and I would really love to see an *cough* OAR release of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective *cought*.

At least they haven't milked the name and given us a sequel sans Carrey like D&D2 and Mask 2.

I could have sworn that I read that they were indeed making a new Ace movie without Carrey. I can't remember where I read it though. Maybe the idea never really took off, but I know I read it somewhere. I definately wouldn't be up for it, with or without Carrey. I enjoyed the first one a lot, but not the second one.

They'd make it withot him. Mask2 and Dumb & Dumber2 were proof that he won't do it. The man commands $20M a picture now, which is hard on a comedy.

He could have made:
Ace Ventura 3
The Mask 2
Dumb and Dumber 2

But instead he made:
Man on the Moon
The Truman Show
The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

I kinda like what he did make a little better.

Truth is Jim Carey outgrew that franchise a long time ago.

He can still do a regular comedy and have it gross a lot of money so there's no reason for him to go back to an existing character.

Haven't they learned? A sequel to a Jim Carrey centric movie without Jim Carrey is bad business.

The only one that has a chance is Evan Almighty with Steve Carell.

This shit is actually coming to theatres? WHY? Chalk it up with Son of the Mask, Dumb and Dumberer and Evan Almighty as don't make a sequel to a Jim Carrey movie WITHOUT Jim Carrey.

ha haaa! I was reading the "Where The Wild Things Are" thread, in which an interesting sounding movie is deemed unmarketable, yet they go ahead with this stuff where you just know it's going to be shit!
