Some bad news for TNA, or at least the fans, Aries and Strong got a big suspension. I think it's a big mistake.

I'm of 2 minds about this. On the one hand, I see TNA's point. TNA invests valuable TV time on Strong/Aries and would like them to appear at the Pay Per View, but Aries/Strong risked that by choosing to work RoH the night before and run the risk of getting caught in a storm. Homicide, Alex Shelley and Jay Lethal all pulled out of the RoH event at the request of TNA management for fear of being stranded.

On the other hand, Aries/Strong did make the show so no harm was done. If they had missed the PPV then that would be a whole different story. Either way its a double edged sword.

T, its good to be back on a brand new computer.

Are they the "new" X-Division superstars that formed a tag-team and were trying to get some recognition?

Yep, that's them. I feel they've always been involved in the best 3 matches of a PPV when they've been on one.

Well, IMO their match was 5th on Sunday.

1. Daniels/Joe/Styles ****1/2
2. Rhino/Abyss ****
3. Christian Vs. Jarrett ***3/4
4. AMW/Sabin-Dutt ***1/2

Then you could go with the 4-way X-division match or the opening tag match. About the only thing I am for certain of is that LAX/James Gang was aweful.

However, the 4-way that they were in with Alex Shelley and Sonjay Dutt at Bound for Glory may have been the second best match on the show after Styles/Daniels Ironman II. I think its worth going out of your way to see if you can rent/buy the DVD, it is just that good.

Last night's Impact was ok. They're sending Alex Shelley after Sting which should be the reason Sting comes back, to gain some revenge for the invasion of his privacy, but not revenge on Shelley but revenge on Jarrett.

Destination X looks like:
Christian Vs. Brown
Styles Vs. Joe Vs. Daniels, Ultimate X
Jarrett/Abyss/AMW Vs. Killings/Rhino/Team 3D
LAX Vs. James Gang/Bullet Bob

I'd pay a lot more than $29.95 to see Joe in Ultimate X, so that alone has sold me on the show, although Cage/Brown should be decent if December tells us anything and the 8 man will probably be a good weapons brawl. The LAX match is gonna suck we should all just accept it.

The world X-cup is returning with Team TNA, Team Mexico, Team Japan and Team UK. I didn't hear them say that Team Canada would be involved, that's interesting. Depending on when they had it, Johnny Devine could be back from injury, they already have Williams and Young, and they could just find 1 more wrestler to do the X-style as neither A-1 or Roode is what I would consider X-style but Roode did participate in earlier X-cups. Perhaps they're not using Team Canada because of the fact they're in another angle.

Go Jay Lethal, I'm starting to really like him.

I can't wait until Homicide's injury is heeled so he can go in Singles matches and not be involved in sucky tag matches with my least favorite wrestlers ever, Kip James and Konnan. They also need Low Ki for LAX because this other goof really sucks.

I thought it was a good show.

The ex-WWE guys sound so much better in TNA.

Who uses VHS anymore?

I miss the promos for the PPV replay with quotes from fans and stills. I thought it did a great job of making the viewer want to order the replay. But I could see why they got rid of it since it had a low-budget feel.

What happened to Shane Douglas? I loved him as the backstage interviewer.

Apparently, his wife forced him to check in to rehab for a painkiller addiction.

As for who uses VHS anymore, I still use it...I record every Pay Per View on both VHS tape and DVD.

Pretty good speech from Christian. Something along the lines of -For 8 long years I've been told I don't have IT. I don't look the part, I'm not big enough, etc, etc.-

Nice rip of the WWE. I wonder what Vince thinks of all this. Does he feel even remotely threatened by TNA? Hmmm...

I don't know if he's threatened by TNA, but he is most definitely aware of them. Every so often they do something to try and cut TNA off at the legs. Remember the White Sox angle from December. Vince asked the catcher to appear at Wrestlemania this year and he turned them down.

As for iMPACT tonight it was solid but not spectacular. The video stuff I thought was funny for Alex Shelley's running commentary, and am I the only one on this board who is greatly amused by Showtime Eric Young?

Good Impact.

Disappointed by the AJ and Strong match.

Shelley's stuff was funny. I liked it when he said the kids sucked at basketball because Sting is teaching them how to play, then one of them made a basket.

Eric Young does a great job with his character. Just don't call him Showtime.

So I guess Sting comes back and feuds for a while with Jeff Jarrett? That should keep both of them busy and away from the title while Christian defends it for a good while right?

Andres, you've got it. Sting will probably re-appear when Impact moves to Thursday night in April and face Jarrett in the cage at Lockdown.

Good. That should give Sting some time to hit the gym and get rid of that beer gut he's got going on.

By the way guys, is it true that TNA is totally or partly owned by Jeff Jarrett?

I remember him being this long-haired, redneck for the WWF back in the mid 90's but he didn't much there as far as I remember.

When and how did he get so powerful?

Jeff owns something like 21 percent of TNA...71 percent is owned by Panda Energy. How Jarrett got to own part of the company is easy, he and his father Jerry founded the company and later sold a majority to Panda, which was necessary because without that TNA would've gone out of business 3 months into their existance.

Edit: Its something like 79 percent to 21 percent...wikipedia has the right number.

Were Jeff and his father, Jerry, already loaded (money-wise) when Jeff was with the WWF?

I just find it interesting how a regular wrestler (I don't know how big he was with the WWF) got to go out on his own and end up owning part of a company that eventually is going to end up giving some major competition to the WWE.

That's what I call a sucess story.

Well, Jerry Jarrett used to own/opporate the old Memphis territory and he had a successful construction business, so that's how he got the capital to start TNA...but even then he needed some initial investors, one of which was Health South. The company could not have sustained its losses when Health South pulled out, and that's why they needed to sell to Panda.

I don't know what Jeff's initial investment was. He made some good money in WWF/WCW, so if he saved...and he did get $250,000 for one WWF match because they were stupid enough to book a PPV match for him the day after his contract expired.

How much would YOU charge them to drop the belt to Chyna?

There's not enough commas and 0's in the world for me to come up with a figure...especially because jobbing to Chyna would involve contact with Chyna.

I'll comment on iMPACT after I see it tonight, I was watching UFC on Saturday instead.

Sweet lord, Alex Shelley rules.

I liked the Main Event tonight and with AJ hanging the belt from the X and taunting Joe.

Speaking of Joe, he gets his own DVD this summer.

It's going to be interesting seeing Joe hanging from the X. That match could be one of the best ever or one of the worst.

Does Alex Shelley rule because of the tapes he's made of Sting?

Andres, that is just one of the many reasons he rules. He is also really good in the ring. Not as good as the great Eric Young, however.

But, yes his commentary on the 2 Sting videos does help him rule.

Yup. Those videos could have been corny but he's made them interesting somehow.

Hey, who's the guy from Team Canada that keeps warning everyone Sting's going to be pissed off? The funny, blonde dude. He acts a little bit "slow" if you know what I mean.

I think they're setting him up to be a face, don't you think?

That's the great Eric Young, mentioned previously in the thread for being so awesome, especially when he begged everyone to not call him showtime.

I must have missed that bit.

So what's his gimmick? Is he supposed to be slow like WWE's Eugene?

He started off as just 'another' team canada guy. They then began having act 'jumpy' more than 'slow'. He'd grab at his heart while the pyro exploded, etc. Now he's full-on paranoid, especially about Sting and his return.

What's especially cool about all this (other than Young's face) is that, while I doubt it was quite as well planned out as it appears to look now, the 'showtime' nickname and the 'jumpiness' (sp?) are golden touches.

The thing kind of got started at the funeral for Team 3D...when Young sensed that there was a presence in the funeral home of a girl named Katie. Inside joke, referencing the Katie Vick angle.

Then he got jumpy when the Pyro went off, and now he's convinced Sting is coming back and he was right. During the Final Resolution Preshow, Shane Douglas went in to Sting's dressing room and found Team Canada in there, as a joke Scot Da'amoore turned off the lights and Young got so scared he jumped in to Shane's arms.

He's had the Showtime nickname forever so that was just a happy coincidence.

Ah, yes, now that you guys mention it, I now recall him getting all scared when the pyros go off.

So how come he doesn't like it when the guys call him 'showtime'?

Don't Call me Showtime anymore. That's Sting's thing, he says, Its Showtime folks, that's his thing, so from now on, I'm just Eric
Eric Young - 02/25/2006 iMPACT

Basically, he's so nervous that he's afraid Sting will get mad at him for being Showtime, another reason for the man's awesomeness.

I think the Sting angle could've used another video before the one we just saw, like one in which Sting catches a glimpse of Shelley videotaping him but Shelley takes off.

I loved that funeral segment! Best moment of it was when Abyss was handed a tissue box and he crushed it, and Eric Young's reaction to it was awesome.
