First of all, they have the "teenager with older brunette" subplot basically ripped off from "Desperate Housewives" (the stepmom even looks like the lady on "Housewives").
I don't think a plotline about a teenage boy sleeping with the stepmother of his best friends has anything to do with a plotline about a bored housewife sleeping with her teenage gardener. The only thing the stories have in common is older married woman, teenage boy, and that's hardly a novel concept.
What's going on in VM with Logan and Kendall is a lot more twisted and has a lot more to do with how screwed up Logan is right now. I also think Mrs. Casablancas has a very sinister ulterior motive, but we just don't know what it is yet. Nothing is ever what it seems on this show. But I don't think she seduced Logan just because he's cute and she's bored.

Secondly, the "logic" that Veronica -- a supposedly very bright and intelligent girl -- used to sleep with her new boyfriend was really icky.
Logic had nothing to do with it. And it made perfect sense to me. A "near death" experience frequently causes people to act out impulsively, and in this case, Veronica was quite traumatized by the bus accident when she realized she escaped with her life by the narrowest of margins. She
should have been on that bus. If only she hadn't seen Weevil at the gas station, she'd be dead.
When the driver's girlfriend said that she never really got to be with the man she loved, it really hit home for V that life is
short, even though she of all people should have known that already, given what she's been through. Veronica is also trying her hardest to create a "normal" life for herself with Duncan, so sleeping with him was a very natural step. Plus, I think she's doing everything she can to convince herself that she loves Duncan and she's over Logan, and that was another reason she slept with Duncan. Too bad it's not working out like she planned. It's obvious that she's not over Logan, or she wouldn't have called that hotel room.
I thought this was a great episode, even better than the premiere. I like how the mystery of the week (Did Ed commit suicide?) was directly related to the season-long mystery of what happened on that bus, and why. And I can't wait to see what happens next week.

I am not liking Veronica's "plain Jane" hairstyle. It's like she's not even trying anymore (hair-wise). I'm hating her being the girlfriend, she just seems too independent to be some high school guy's girlfriend.
Re the hairstyle: she's growing it out, and that's why it looks "plain Jane." I know you're not a girl, or maybe you'd understand it better.

But this hairstyle is a "halfway" point between short and long and it always looks bad in the middle, especially the bangs. But it will look better when the bangs have grown out. I'm sure she hates it right now also, because it very frustrating to grow out your bangs.
Re the "girlfriend": You're right that she's too independent to be "just" a girlfriend, but she's not. She's still trying hard to recapture some of that "normal" life she had with Duncan before Lilly was killed, but I don't think it's working. Obviously she's never going to have a "normal" life now, and I think it's going to become more obvious to her in the next couple of episodes. Plus, like I said above, she's trying to convince herself she's over Logan and she really loves Duncan, but it's not working very well.
