Whoa. I've never seen Bettany's evil smile until now, and I like it.

The man I loved - the man who vanished - he never came back at all. But maybe he's still out there, somewhere. Maybe some day, when Gotham no longer needs Batman, I'll see him again.

Hope they at least consider Crispin Glover.

Bettany does indeed look great, and we know he can act. Lou, I think Glover has a good look, but I think his personal quirkiness would unbalance the set. I'd rather have someone like Bettany or Brody.
Patrick, good call, but about a decade too late

Still, curves like that are tough to find.
Take care,
Chuck

A big bustline for Catwoman would look ridiculous in a Nolan-directed Batman film, plus Michelle Pfeiffer made it work without a massive bustline, and what cat-burgular would want a large chest to obstruct their passage in tight spaces and corridors/chutes. Form follows function.

Isn't he too much of a loose canon? I'm pretty sure there are good reasons why he hasn't made a big budget movie for a long time.
I like the idea of Paul Bettany playing the Joker though. Christopher Nolan needs to work with more Englishmen.

I like Paul, he's a great actor, he always outshines Russell Crowe when they work together. He was great as the figment of imagination in A Beautiful Mind.
I think he'd bring a subtle yet maniacal preformance to the Joker.
As for Catwoman, she's nearly the same age as Bruce, Jennifer Connelly wouldn't be too bad, she's four years old than Christian Bale, but she sort of looks younger. She's not that big in the chest area, I mean she's Katie Holmes size maybe a little bit bigger. She's a good actress as well. I'm not really sure if they should bring Catwoman in on this movie anyway. I think the idea that Batman's rogue's gallery hasn't really start yet, he's still just fighting mostly crime bosses and such. Totally no Robin...

Crispin would be pretty inspired casting. I like the idea of Brodey, I don't see him camping up the part. Bettany might be okay, but his hammy acting in Knight's Tale worries me.

He was in both
Charlie's Angels movies, but he obviously just had a supporting role.

Then Roven was fibbing for his "film-focused" audience. The ending of Begins was an homage to how Batman: Year One (Batman #404-407) ends...with Gordon giving a Joker playing card to Batman. That was written in 1986, long before Jack Nicholson was cast as the villain.
It has already been reported that Nolan will do another film before shooting Batman Agains. But casting and script, etc are still in full swing for the Batman sequel.

I've always liked Bettany in his supporting roles so when his name first came up as a possible choice fro the Joker I thought he might be a good choice. That pic that Paul posted of him grinning totally sold it for me.

I think that Joker is popular because Nicholson is popular. Clearly the films exist in separate universes. In the 1989 film, his parents are killed by Jack Napier. In the current film, they are killed by a no-name street crook named Joe Chill (which is much more suitable, I might add). I think movie fans are perfectly adaptable to a new Joker, especially in the tone of the Begins.
And there is no way they won't use the Joker. Not a chance. They went with new villains for this film to distance from the previous 4. But now that it has it's own identity...
Take care,
Chuck

Batman Baggins - the tale of an orphaned Hobbit who decides to cloak himself with a mystical cape and cowl to ward off evil-doers who would do anything to possess the BataRing.

How about simply, "Batman: Year One"?

The name should depend on what happens in the movie. In Batman Begins, we saw the beginnings of Batman.
