TNT was rerunning The Outer Limits on weekday afternoons as recently as 2002-2003. The Sci-Fi Channel picked up the rights to air the old series since then.

I bought Season 2 from DDD last week (less than $28 - nice!). I sometimes don't open DVDs for weeks or months, but I opened it yesterday and discovered that side A of both discs 1 and 2 are either blank or so snarky that 2 players in my house won't read them. I'm sure DDD will replace, but I just wanted to warn folks to check your discs if you recently bought the set.
Nope, no brains in jars or anything, but a couple of brains with I think eyes that chase down a women in a room. Maybe I did dream it, or it was on one of those Saturday horror marathons they used to show on Halloween weekend on a local station. I guess I can safely say it wasn't on Outer Limits, my candy addeled brain just can't remember where it was from!
Two aliens from Arous (pronounced "airus"), one good, one bad visit earth. They look like large transparent brains with a pair of eyes. The evil brain is called Gor and takes over the mind of a scientist. The good brain takes over the mind of a dog!
The warning about S2 DVD problems worries me, since I also have a Denon player. Was it a particular episode that hangs or are you unable to load the title menu for side A?
The problem with my Season 2 set was Disc 2, Side A. Disc would not load at all on my Denon 2200 & when attempted playback on the backup player(Denon 1200) disc would load, but playback was bad from pixelation to player locking up.
The one thing I failed to do was see what date the VOB files where to see if they where older pressings or newer pressings.
Also, I should have mentioned, my players are a Panasonic and a Sony, so the problem is not exclusive to Denon players. I can't even get the load screen to come up on either player when I insert the disk - it just spins and spins, probably searching for the entry screen pickup. And the players are very slow to open after I press eject. So there is no doubt something very screwed up about the way the data is recorded on the disk (ie - it's not a transient problem).
Perhaps it is limited to the re-release (and price dropped) sets? Could this have been a single bad run from one of MGM's production facilities?

This time, I wrote another e-mail to MGM and gave all the details, asking if they'd replace just the bad disc for me. They're slow in responding, but if I don't hear from them in a few days I'll return the set to DDD and ask for something else instead. I've had my eye on the Joan Crawford collection, and a few other noirs as well. Doug |

Death to double sided DVDs!
I didn't care for "Zzzzz", it practically put me to sleep.
I really enjoyed "The Invisibles" and the "Zanti Misfits" the most. I didn't care for "Zzzzz", it practically put me to sleep.
The music and sound effects from this series (Frontiere et al.) are astonishing. It's scary how integral these are to the overall viewing experience. On other Boards, I've gone into great detail about this facet of the show. The music has intrigued me for years.
