More importantly...how popular will Starbuck be when she returns to Galactica with a box full of cigars?
Bring back John Doe! Or at least resolve the cliff-hanger with a 2hr movie or as an extra on a dvd release.

Greetings
The music changed because they decided they liked the british opening music more than the US version.
The opening is shortened so that they can show more commercials.

Greetings
In some sense, the british opening music was the original one. Someone at SciFi decided they didn't like it so it was changed.
Just think of this as going back to the Original music. Of course both versions have their supporters.
I guess we should watch the "death meter" at the beginning of the show. It is supposed to change from show to show as people die.
I also enjoyed the homage to Space:1999 ... but lost for the sake of commercials.

Saying that they're doing character development doesn't address anything for me. I end up saying, "OK, but they're not doing it in a very interesting way for me."
I wouldn't conclude that because some people aren't fully enjoying the character development that they're somehow incapable of enjoying complex entertainment. Voyager and Enterprise don't enter my mind at all when viewing or discussing BSG. Voyager and Enterprise are Sci Fi shows. BSG, to me, is a Drama (with a capital D) set in a fictional universe. Even though I like Sci Fi, it's the drama aspect of BSG that grabbed me. The Science Fiction is... incidental.
I have faith, though. It'll pick up. Nobody bats 1.000.

It is funny how different people react differently. I thought eps 1 and 2 of season 2 were just about as gripping as anything I have ever seen on TV.
But, if we were all the same, if we all felt the same way about the story line of a particular drama, then each and every drama would be exactly the same.

I think they should make it a musical.

7/29 episode
No Starbuck and Helo!
No change in Adama's status.
Crashdown Crashes.
This weeks's war battle worked for me a bit more than previous ones this season. When Tyrol went yippie ki yay, the tension worked for me.
The most interesting part of the story for me this week is the political / military intrigue involving Tigh. He's a disloyal move away from being "The Man". For instance, if he didn't let the doctor dock for whatever reason, bye-bye Adama. I had half a mind to check the internet to make sure EJO is supposed to be around for awhile. Tigh is certainly capable of doing the wrong thing since he doesn't seem bound by morality. About the only truly positive trait we've seen from him is loyalty to Adama. But really, nothing he does would surprise me -- especially with Ms. McTigh on his shoulder whispering into his ear. For a guy like him who perpetually has one foot in the Wrong Thing pot to begin with, she's poison for him. With good writing, she could be the next best female villan to Ms. Palmer from 24. Just insidious.
A small note, but I'm glad they addressed why the President's aide was free to roam. It was a nit I was going to post last week, but then I wasn't sure I remembered it correctly and never had the chance to go back and check.
I'm still having a hard time believing Boomer abandoned Helo, but no movement on that front yet. We'll see.

| Still not enjoying this as much as last year but it's not as new and shiney as it was then. That could be part of it. |
I'm also reflecting to see what's not working for me and why. One thing is I watched the miniseries and S1 in a marathon with no commercials. Aside from not having the momentum of the episodes broken up (going from a Cylon war to Pampers commercials has to have some impact), my cable system looks pretty crappy, so the DVD's looked
much better.
Even when I allow for those things, though, it still feels to me like the miniseries and S1 had a limited time to say what they wanted to say, and hit the ground running to do so. It isn't just that the show is old hat now; it's that the stories aren't as compelling (so far). In fact, I'd bet that if anyone who hasn't been bowled over by S2 went back and watched S1, they'd
still like S1 -- even though it is old hat at this point. The mini and S1 were good stuff -- amongst the best I've seen on TV. S2 may not meet those lofty levels, but may be quite good in its own way. We'll see.
