weird username password message on one thread

This is weird. When I click on this thread The page loads fine in the backgorund, but I get a menu message that is asking for a username and password. The referring site asking for the info appears to be http://download.consuptionjunction.com/ .which I have never seen before. Honest. Looks like an adult like site though.

I am using Firefox 1.03 on a PC running WIndows XP. I have used spybot search & destroy and Adaware to clean potntial spyware and everything is clean. So...not sure what that is from.

Any one else get this? Or is this unique to me?

Regards,
Brian W. Ralston

Brian: Using your link I just visited the thread-in-question and got no such window from any such site.

Am running Win ME with Firefox 1.03.

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

I got it, running Windows XP and IE browser. It looks scary, I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.

I tried it also... I got the password prompt box in IE6.0...did NOT get it with Firefox 1.0. Win XP Home SP2.

Viewing the source code for that thread's page, looks like post #20 might be trying to pull a reference to a pic at the site in question (.../multimedia/cj_22461.jpg). I don't see any pics in the thread when viewed with Firefox (I closed the IE window that Brian's link opened), so maybe it's in a sig? (I keep sigs turned off.)

Weird, though, that post #20 is from 6/14/03. Looks like such a situation would have been noticed or commented upon before now, if that really is what's causing the prompt...

The post in question has been removed, and you should no longer be seeing the pop-up.

Just tried it again with IE...no prompt this time, so looks like that must've been it.

Thanks, Michael...
