Well, it may not involve any more knowledge of that period than the basic fact that Scully has a son named William.

Re: Second X-Files Movie in 2006 (Now Maybe 2008?)

Was William the result of her conception at the hands of the Gov?

I know she had a baby in the last season, was this William? I don't remember if she had a "normal" preganancy prior. (It has been a long time since I have seen an episode)

Scully's ova was harvested/stolen when she was abducted in the second season and that left her unable to have children. The stolen ova was used by the government to create a child (Emily) that died in the fifth season.

At the end of the seventh season, Scully finds out that she is pregnant (after starting a relationship with Mulder). Since she wasn't able to have children, the implication is that William is a miracle. Baby William also had possibly extra terrestrial powers that made him a target for the conspiracy and so Scully gave him up to a couple in the midwest to hide and protect him.

Re: Second X-Files Movie in 2006 (Now Maybe 2008?)

Just responding to the last page or two of comments on the plot...while I don't know any specifics, Spotnitz and Carter have both been open about this being pretty much a "standalone" plot and movie, with some references to the mytharc and baby William, but those are not the main elements of the story.

I hope this holds true, as the mytharc really fell apart after the first five seasons, and really only had any kind of coherence for the first three. After all this time, my favorite episodes are the Monster of the Week eps.

Exactly. Keep in mind that Chris Carter has some 'odd' views like saying that Mulder and Scully kissed in the first movie but it was just broken into two parts. The two parts being when Mulder and Scully went to kiss each other but were interrupted by a bee sting and the second half of the kiss came when Mulder gave Scully mouth to mouth near the end of the movie. If he considers that a kiss, I don't think him saying that Baby William will be addressed should really worry anyone.

Even watching the trailer...I still have no clue what the movie is about. And thats not such a bad thing.

Bring back John Doe! Or at least resolve the cliff-hanger with a 2hr movie or as an extra on a dvd release.

You've got to be kidding me... IGN... I hate that site. When will it be available on a good website that doesn't make you pay to download the HD version?

Sorry for the rant, the first time I clicked on the HD link it sent me to a sign up page for IGNinsider but, I tried it again and it worked this time. I still don't like IGN much at all.

Re: Second X-Files Movie in 2006 (Now Maybe 2008?)

Nice trailer, though it pretty much reuses alot of elements from the previous ones - and I still have no idea what the story is about. Not that I'm complaining about that.

I did find it a little tacky that they had the trademark (TM) symbol after "The X-Files" in the title at the end of the trailer. Is that common practice? I don't recall ever seeing that on any other film - like Star Trek or anything.

Re: Second X-Files Movie in 2006 (Now Maybe 2008?)

i have found the shaky fan recorded trailer from a convention (comic-con i think) much better than the officially released versions. i know it's a fox movie... but the way in which they resort to quick flashes is ANNOYING!!!

aaanyway, i'm looking fwd to this SOOOOOOOO much =D.

Re: Second X-Files Movie in 2006 (Now Maybe 2008?)

From the August edition of Empire magazine UK...

Quote:
Empire: Is it true this film has a horror vibe to it?

Duchovny: I'd liken it to Tooms (a Season 1 classic about a stretchy serial killer), which is also in the horror/thriller model. Chris has a lot of experience of implying horrible things more than showing them. That said, with this new movie, I definitely know we shot graphic stuff that can't be in the theatrical version. Will it go on the DVD? He might have plans for it. I don't know.

Sounds good to me, Tooms is one of my fav X-Files episodes.
