Renee Zellweger to quit acting?
1/13/05 at 2:21am
I think Renee Zellweger is by far the most talented actor to hit the movies for a very long time, considering the variety of characters she has played so convincingly. I have heard rumours that she is considering quitting acting to take up writing in New England. I think it will be a loss if true. Does anyone know if there is any substance to this story?

Don't like her acting particularly, but do like many of her movies. Interesting rumor though.

No actress has been able to quit acting successfully. Natalie Portman said she would quit a few years ago. Debra Winger came back. Phoebe Cates came back briefly for Anniversary Party. Any others?

What about Gena Davis? I don't know iff she offically "quit" acting. I remeber hearing about how she was taking time off so that she could consentrate on making the Olympic Achery team. This would be several years ago at least.

She did that, but I think had a sitcom afterward. Recently, she had twins (her first children, at 45), and has probably been doing the stay-at-home mom thing.

I heard she is just taking a year off to relax and hang out with friends.
On a side note. I love how these actors/actresses spend years to become big and then give it up.

Bring back John Doe! Or at least resolve the cliff-hanger with a 2hr movie or as an extra on a dvd release.

Not nuts about her either, but don't hate her as much as I used to.
Means more parts for prettier actresses if she quits.

??? So her character in Jerry Maguire is the same as Bridget Jones is the same as her role in Cold Mountain is the same as Roxie in Chicago? They seem like very different characters to me...

Must be the "Bridget Jones'" experience, as Hugh Grant said he's quitting, too.
And Colin Firth refuses to do any more Darcy type roles.

The only film I ever bought her in was Jerry Maguire. Everything else I've seen her in, the acting seems too forced.

Yeah, pretty much. But that's a completely different subject.
