One of the very few movies that REALLY scared me was The Omen, but that might have been because I was attending a Lutheran school at the time, and had been studying the book of Revelations in religion class. The teacher liked using scare tactics to make us behave.

| Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory: Yes, Willy Wonka. He killed those kids! Their disappearance scared me out of my seat in 1971. |
I can't believe you mentioned this movie!!! I almost added this to my list too

However, it wasn't the disappearing kids that scared me most... it was those darn Oompa Loompas!!! Those guys freaked me out!!! I had nightmares about them until I was in my 20's.

I don't find any horror movies scary now, but when I was young The Exorcist was pretty freaky. My Sandra loves being scared, Kubrick's The Shining is her favorite horror film, she's seen it the most times and it always creeps her out. Great film.
Jack Clayton's excellent The Innocents (1961) is a ghost story I found genuinely spooky and unnerving, still waiting for it to arrive on dvd.
