Dead Like Me cancelled
Oh well, they'd better at least release the second season on DVD faster now, since they don't have to synch it up with the new season
First Wonderfalls, now Dead Like me. Who did Bryan Fuller piss off? And why do we have to pay for it?
You can't really compare the two - Wonderfalls was cancelled because it had bad ratings and was a very cheap, boring copy of Dead Like Me.
Dead Like Me had great ratings and was a great show.
P.S. I liked Wonderfalls
so maybe they [Sci-fi] can pick Dead Like Me up too
Id much rather see the show layed to rest, than to have Mason censored.
Or Daisy - "Clark Cable? I knew him. I, eh, shook his hand once."
Unless Showtime reconsiders or HBO picks it up, the show is better off cancelled.

If Comedy Central can show uncensored films late at night, then Sci-Fi could run something like this show. Not that I expect them to or anything.

I cannot believe this. I was so much looking forward to the third season, after the way the second ended. I hope another network picks it up. This is such an amazing show, the fuckers at Showtime don't even deserve to have it. Too expensive? It had maybe 5 scenes with the gravelings the whole second season. And by scenes I mean 2-3 second snippets. Cheap bastards.
"you know, the producers said those little gravelings shots are, . . like $100k a pop?"
and awed murmurs ensued from the rest of the cast.
They could've always just asked the writers to tone down the use of gravelings, or had them do most of their stuff off camera, I'm sure there's a way they could have worked it out instead of just cancelling it.
Plus it's kicking Huff's ass in the ratings, and that's already been greenlit for a second season.
To quote Buffy: Your logic does not resemble our Earth logic.
Does anybody have good email addresses, phone numbers, and snailmail addresses for contacting Showtime over this matter?

I've BCCed them all.
I’ve been a subscriber of Showtime for the last seven years. I receive Showtime, Showtime Tier (all of the extra East/West Extreme, Action, Beyond, Showtime Women, Showtime Next, Showtime Family, Showtime Demand, Showtime HD).. as well as Movie Channel E/W, etc. Well, no more. After following showtime for so long, and paying for it for four boxes in the house, I figure it’s time to cut bait. While I may only represent that number of subscriptions, I have been at least able to influence six others to also forfeit their subscriptions. It amazes me that HBO puts forward challenging, unique & different programming and sticks by it, whereas Showtime rolls out innovative programming and pretty much kills it right off the bat. No wonder Hollywood prestige never seems to be knocking at your door. What next, bring back Sherman Oaks?
Question: No, no, no! Showtime can't cancel Dead Like Me! Might another network pick it up? — Joseph T. Sustrik Ausiello: It's a good question, and one I posed to MGM's television president Hank Cohen over the phone yesterday. "We are exploring every opportunity and option that we have available to us," he told me. "It's a terrific show and, contrary to what [Showtime president Robert Greenblatt] told Variety [on Tuesday], our producers don't feel like we've even begun to explore all of the Reaper opportunities that we have. We have a very, very loyal fan base and I'm going to do everything I can for these fans to make sure the show lives on. The irony of all this is that Dead Like Me is a metaphor for second chances, and we're hopefully going to find one." Cohen expects a final decision will be made within 45 days, which, according to my calculations, is plenty of time to mount a massive letter-writing campaign.
However I still think that unless they get it on HBO (or maybe a DVD-only release?) the show is better off dead - a watered-down, castrated "network version" of the show is nothing I'd want to see.
I can just see the meeting with Fox, UPN or SciFi:
"Do they have to be dead?"
"What about a laugh-track?"
"Let's add Ted McGinley to the show."

One more comment: The bit about the cost of the show being high. Remember the arse at Showtime who decided it was weighing the cost of DLM against the crop of brand new shows which have no assurance of being as popular, but have the advantage of being cheaper since they're not yet popular. We can only hope that instant karma gets that guy and all his new cheaper shows turn out to be duds.
Showtime = HBO plus boxing. Never saw the point of that network.

Actually, HBO has decent boxing.. Showtime is HBO, minus the specials, big name series, mini series and original documentaries of HBO.

If only they could all sign the petition, we'd probably have a few thousand more sigs instantly.

One of their columns gives a snail mail address for the WB:
Question: In your last column, you mentioned a letter-writing campaign to save Dead Like Me. To whom should I write? — Barbara Ausiello: I hear MGM has pitched the show to WB, so that's one place to start. Here's that address: The WB, 4000 Warner Blvd., Burbank, Calif., 91522

Can you imagine the show on the WB?
New theme song by some pop-rock band?
"Sanitized" language and plots?
Make-over for Ellen Muth?
Guest appearences by "hot new bands"?
That's a fate worse than cancellation.

It's not official, but on several Dead Like Me messageboard there are postings by people saying the show has been cancelled.
Say it ain't so!!!

That's such a great show!!! Those Showtime exec's are fools to cancel such a great show. I was actually considering about possibly subscribing to Showtime just for that show, but now they can forget it! I'm sticking to HBO and Starz!

Jessica Marbles: No, not that kind of gas. The kind that kills!
