I had a bittersweet feeling about this episode. It felt like a series ender. I know Chase said he had to do it both ways, but still.
I'd like to see how Prop Joe and the others deal with Marlo w/o Stringer.

Hey kid you got no class. Hit the bums, kid. Run like the devil. Get a tin can and take up mooching. Knock on back doors for a nickel.
Tell them your story. Make \'em weep. You could have been a meat-eater, kid. But you didn\'t listen to me when I laid it down.

How much of the Barksdale crew is even left?
Why would Prop Joe want to get Marlo?
Sorry if this has been covered already. I heard that a fourth season is in question (if not doubt) from an interview with one of the creators.

The verdict is still out on "The Wire." HBO chairman Chris Albrecht began the pay cabler TCA session by announcing that no decision had been made to renew the acclaimed but ratings-challenged cop drama for a fourth season. Albrecht, always quick to shrug off poor Nielsens in favor of quality, told the room of critics, "I have received a telegram from every viewers of 'The Wire' -- all 250 of them," he said. He added that HBO execs were in discussions with "Wire" creator David Simon but that the decision would not come for several weeks. Ratings for last season, which wrapped late last year, dwindled from when the show was preceded by "Sex and the City." Still, newer HBO shows including "Entourage," which received a second season order, and "Unscripted" have earned only modest ratings. At the July press tour, Albrecht confessed he was frustrated that Emmy voters repeatedly snubbed "The Wire," which has received some of the best reviews of any HBO series. Topper also said it was "completely coincidental" that the lineup of HBO comedies -- "The Comeback," "Entourage," "Unscripted" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm""Curb Your Enthusiasm" -- were set against the backdrop of show business.
Good lord, there's nothing worse than the foul stench of desperation when someone wants to be famous.

David Simon, the Creator/Executive Producer of HBO’s acclaimed drama, THE WIRE, reports that he has had constructive discussions with Chris Albrecht and Caroline Strauss of HBO on the possible renewal of the program, but that no decision as yet has been made by the network. Mr. Simon said of the discussions that, “the ball is in my court”, and that he was developing a further presentation for HBO executives on where he wants to take THE WIRE over the next two seasons. Simon indicated he was happy to report his discussions with HBO were not about the program’s ratings or “numbers”, but acknowledged that THE WIRE has clearly not been a “break-out hit” for the cable network. Simon expressed his appreciation of the fact that his conversations with HBO were focused on story-line and not lightening up the program. He hopes and expects to be prepared to restart his discussions with HBO on the program's future by the end of this month.
