Today's release of MUNICH reminded me of a few titles that aren't on the list:
Munich
King Kong
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
And when it comes out, Cars will be EX too.
Thanks,

I found nothing to indicate that those movies listed had EX/ES audio on DVD. Sorry Mike, the studios don't always follow the rules on converting theater released EX/ES movies to DVD EX/ES releases.
Other than that I listed Running Scared on the list. So far, none of the HD DVD or Blu Ray formats have released movies in EX/ES. They have enough problems getting the standard formats right it seems.

Re: DD-EX & DTS-ES encoded movies listing
Troy,
If these three movies aren't ex-encoded on DVD, then as far as I know, they are the only three theatrically ex-encoded movies that aren't. It seems highly unlikely to me that a studio would remix a new release into fewer channels. I would be very surprised if, maybe aside from level adjustment, there was any remixing done at all.

I think this guy is a little extreme with his thinking. However, I do personally prefer to listen to movies in the format that they were mixed in so that it sounds as much as possible like the filmmakers intended.

If the theatre is properly equipped, this shouldn't be happening. How do I know? I used to work at a 14 screen multiplex with 4 screens equipped for DD EX. If the processor did not detect an EX flag, it would decode as 5.1 or whatever the format of the sound was (Woody Allen's films are apparently released in 1.0 DD mono). As well, if surrounds are collapsing into the back centre track, that's an indication of shoddy mixing.

Updates.
I've tried to capture all the Blu-Ray releases, but the verification process is even more elusive/complicated than with regular DVD.
If I missed anything, let me know.

Re: DD-EX & DTS-ES encoded movies listing
Here's a list of movies on the HD formats which I believe to be encoded in EX. Previous versions, either theatrically or on DVD have been confirmed. I suppose it is possible that some may suffer from some unexplained anomolous remix which would be in less channels than their earlier counterparts. But in my opinion, that's highly unlikely and by no means probable. So I can sort of understand not wanting to include them on a definitive list, but I think they should at least exist somewhere in this thread since chances are, they're EX. So here they are:
HD DVDs:
The Bone Collector
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Corpse Bride
King Kong
Pitch Black
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
We Were Soldiers
Blu-ray:
Corpse Bride
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
The Terminator
X-Men: The Last Stand
Also, HAPPY FEET and THE FOUNTAIN are in EX.
