what dd-ex titles have the auto flag so it will trip the reciever into dd-ex mode automatically? Phantom Menace wont do it, you have to set it manually.
Jim, I have found the only one so far to be Jurassic Park 3. It trips the flag and activates DD-EX on its own. Yes, I wondered about the Phantom Menace too, I have to trip it manually. I though it was a THX-EX issue, but it won't trip that one either. Of course, all the DTS-ES discs trip the DTS flag without fail each and every time! Let me know if you find another one.

New confirmations;
A.I., The Haunted Castle (3D), Encounters In The Third Dimension (3D) and Alien Adventure (3D) ARE NOT DTS-ES.
The list has been updated accordingly.
1 year celebration (May 9, 2001)!!!!
Many thanks to all the contributors!

Anybody know if Harry Potter is flagged for DD EX? I thought it was, but my reciever is not auto detecting it? Anybody know or has tried it to see if it is flagged?

| why so many movies that are in DD-EX or DTS-ES are not labeled on the packaging as being so? |
Nate,
I don't really think there's a 'legitimate' answer, but my guess is that the studios don't want to confuse the 'typical' consumer with the variations on audio features.

That sucks! I was under the assumption that Dolby had put out word that all EX encoded movies would be properly flagged going forward.

Doh!!! My bad, I meant LOTR:FOTR...don't know what I was thinking.
Although I did get it right on the list. :b
Dan,
Nothing I've seen indicates this to be a Discrete ES mix.
Check this
link. I updated "Can't Stop The Music".

Amazon is listing the new re-mastered "E.T." as Dolby Digital EX, So I would imagine it will be DTS ES also. You might want to look into this Troy!

Wes,
I'll check to see if it is DTS-ES encoded, but for not it's added to the list under DD-EX.

Haven't gotten anything conclusive on the DTS-ES for LOTR & ET yet.
Will post with any updates.

LOTR is listed as a DTS ES release according to the specs at the official site, but I don't know if it's the source you're looking for.

Ray,
The issue pending is whether or not LOTR is a discrete or matrix ES mix. It's already listed under the Matrix ES category. Just because the specs list 6.1 doesn't mean it's discrete.
Dan,
Good points, but Rush Hour 2 was promoted as having the discrete ES mix up front as opposed to reading between the lines on the ES mix to determine whether or not it is discrete (like we're doing now). I'm going to hold off on updating it to a discrete mix until we get closer to release time and I can get some better information.
Also, the word on the IMAX films came directly from DTS. Not that they can't be wrong, mind you, but it's kind of hard to verify otherwise. I don't have the titles myself.
