Christopher:

Sol Bianca: The Legacy is a fun little OVA series. The PQ is great, and it was one of the first anime disks with both English and Japanese 5.1 sound. The story is pretty good, and the end wraps things up nicely. I haven't seen the LD, but the DVDs were well worth it. Recommended.

Rob:

I've had the opposite problem the last few days. At least I can take a day off, and watch some more anime tonight.

Just finished Fruits Basket...the following...
May contain Fruits Basket spoilers!!!

You have been warned.

Anyway I was kind of disappointed in the ending because I was *really* hoping Ms. Honda would hook up with either Yuki or Kyo or BOTH. Does this happen in the manga? If so Id be interested in reading it.. not really into manga in general though, it seems pretty expensive for how quickly one can read through it.. anyway that's all.

Guess that's not too big of a spoiler anyway.

Rahxephon is hell lot better than that craptastic Sailor Moon you're investing money into, Eric. You probably didn't understand the series. It happens. If you truly understood it, it's on par with most of the popular shows in Japan.

I'll throw my support in for RahXephon. A wonderfully disguised love story presented as a mecha story on the surface. I believe it is Episode 19 that I would consider one of the most moving episodes I have ever seen. Also has such a great ending.

Any word on when the RahXephon movie is getting a U.S. release?

I don't like something, therefore I didn't understand it.

Are we going to bash other people's opinions? I can post to usenet if that's the case.

Thanks for all the comments for Rahxephon. There were moments thatI liked better than others. I may revisit it later, but there are other series I need to finish first, plus I wouldn't mind checking out is FLCL. But I need to finish off Bebop, Trigun, and Excel Saga, plus I still have The Big O and Boogipop Phantom boxes to watch.

I'm not going to, because I hate when the people in here bash my opinion on dubs!

Nonono...no bashing...
Rahxephon turned me off abit when I first started watching it but the more you get into the story the more you get hooked, you just have to watch more!
Stacey

PS. If anyone's interested, I'll be posting a bunch of my dvd's up for sale in the software forum tomarrow when I wake up.
I think the only anime I might get rid of is Maison Ikkoku box 1, I just can't get around to it and I don't know if I want to invest in 2 more boxes of it!
I'm also getting rid of books 1-7 of my Chobits Manga...I've read it twice..I think that's enough for me!

Why? Well, saving for the wedding! I'm $378 lower than I'd like to be...sigh....just wait till you see my giant orders I'll be making when we return though! muuhahaha...

Actually, the reservations are all set, it's just the actual money for the trip that I need...
I Can't fathom coming home without a woopie cushion that says "I've been to Las Vegas" on it!

Ps..I'd rather be at home watching anime! (I'm at work)

Stacey:

Ouch...having to sell parts of your collection . I'm not sure I could do that.

James:

I agree . I can't wait to rewatch it again, but it will be at least a couple of months.

All:

Having a day off from cleaning and moving was very nice . I finished off Martian Successor Nadesico with volume 6. I think the parodic elements really make this series, and it's definitely fun to watch. It's a 'B'-series, and worth the time and money to pick it up. I also watched the first disk of Crying Freeman: Complete Collection. A touch of the ol' ultraviolence, I had only seen the first episode a while back on tape. It's old school, and certainly not for everyone, especially kids.

All right, I've posted the slush pile for sale.
Has anybody had the ability to compare the 5.1 and stereo Japanese mixes on the Tenchi Muyo OVA? I know that the Dolby Digital mixes were made for an LD boxset, and I don't know if the original stereo mixes were included with the DVDs. I just want to know if the surround effects are interesting to listen to, or not.

Actually, I'm glad they didn't, because it broke it a bit from the mold of typical romantic comedy, and left her as actual friends with both of them. But I understand after all the tension, how you would want something to come out of it. But like Mulder & Skully in X-files, sometimes it is better to leave the tension as is.

I enjoyed Rahxephon, but I'm not big on giant robot-type anime (In fact, I generally avoid them). It does come across to me as very much like Evangelion-lite, with a romantic plot, rather than the darkness that Eva frequently ends up in instead.
But it was still excellently put together, and requires a bit of thinking.

Matheson- "There are probably some who'll say that by doing this, we are interfering with their culture."

Gideon - "Probably. Screw them."

I disagree Dave because there's a reason why the word friend is in "boyfriend" and "girlfriend". Your significant other should be your best friend. But that's my paradigm of thought at least.

I also added a link to them in my signature, so if you want to use them, they are always within your access (either from the first post, or another post in the thread I have made)

Thought I'd post back on the 2 titles I recently asked about.

Rahxephon: I watched the first 2 volumes and sorta like it. Not sure if I'll continue with it, at least now anyway, there are a few other series I want to finish first.
The Big O: I really enjoyed this, I have only watched the first disk, but I am really enjoying this one, animation style is a departure from what I am used to seeing.

DON'T DO IT!!!

Ahem... or at least, reconsider. I plowed right through the first two boxes, and I'm beside myself waiting for the next one. You should really give it a chance, because as romantic comedies go, this is a great one. Great story, great characters... all-around greatness.

Thanks Ben but...Too late!
Don't worry, I may rebuy it once I get back from the honeymoon. I just really need the money right now. I only want to sell it now because I haven't gotten hooked on it yet, that's a point!

Does anyone know if there is another Twelve Kingdoms in the works after vol 6?
I was just watching vol 5 and man, I can't imagine not having any more after vol 6! They always leave with such cliffhangers...! On the upside though, I think I can offically put on my resume I have learned a new language once I finish watching the series!
Sigh...I hope they hurry up and get them out though, I know they're still writing it or whatever but...it's my favorite series besides Lain and RahXephon!

DVD Day(TM) went well for me again. I picked up Kiddy Grade vol. 2, and finished up His and Her Circumstances with vols. 3-5. I also got a chance to watch Crying Freeman: Complete Collection disk 2. I'm not sure how I'm feeling about this one. It's not bad, but it's not great. Lots of action and violence, and plenty of fanservice, but the story is pretty thin.

I have an IMPORTANT question for you all! OK, I'm going to rent an anime movie this weekend, but I don't know which one. Should I go for....

-Ghost in the Shell
-Jin-Roh
-Memories

I would get Grave of the Fireflies, but stupid Hollywood Video doesn't have it!

Thanks!

Ghost in the Shell is certainly very enjoyable, but you should know that Manga Entertainment altered both the script and the soundtrack for the dub, and I for one didn't like the changes too much; they seemed quite pointless and detracted at least a little from the story and the ambience.
The other two I have not seen, but I would choose Memories; it is a compilation of shorts which sound very intriguing, while Jin-Roh is very action oriented and apparently more than a little incoherent. You might prefer the latter, though.

rent Ghost in the Shell if you want to fall asleep. At least that's the effect it has on me.

I would recommend Jih-Roh if you want something thought provoking and action-oriented...
And Memories if you want something a little lighter on the senses

Tony:

I haven't seen Memories, so I can't comment on that one, but it would be hard to go wrong with either Ghost in the Shell or Jin-Roh. As Christopher said, the dub script has been altered (Major Kusanagi's character is quite different between the sub and the dub). I've just heard bits and pieces of the dub for Jin-Roh, but what I heard wasn't horrible. Also, if you decide to watch the sub version, there is a Japanese DTS track.
