Well, I had another good DVD Day(TM) yesterday, and managed to pick up all new releases. I got
Last Exile vol. 3,
Matrix Revolutions,
Puni Puni Poemy, and
TeXhnolyze vol. 1. And of course, just to get that karmic balance back, we're offline again at home, and I spent an hour on the phone with Qwerst (Qwest) talking to their clueless tech support guy about trying to get my gateway to work

. I did manage to watch
Puni Puni Poemy, though. It was certainly an interesting way to spend an hour, and there were quite a few good laughs. However, this series is definitely not for everyone. If you couldn't get enough of
Excel Saga, PPP is ES turned up to 11, and you'll probably like it. If you merely liked ES, you may like PPP, but I would recommend that you borrow or rent it first. If you didn't like ES, or just thought it was ok, then PPP is not for you. The same goes for anyone who doesn't like too much sex and/or vulgarity. I give it a 'B-'.

I know what you mean. I've still got
The West Wing season 1, from Xmas no less :b, plus
His and Her Circumstances vols. 4-5,
Najica Blitz Tactics vol. 3,
Last Exile vol. 3,
TeXhnolyze vol. 1, and
Matrix Revolutions to watch. Plus, with the Anime Challenge, I still have bunches of series and movies to rewatch.
I did notice, however, that the number of series I've finished so far this year (16) is equal to all the series I finished in 1999-2001

Heh JohnAD, you do NOT want to know my anime backlog. It is large. But my live action backlog of unwatched dvds is like 300+. SO that is comforting.

Ok, I don't feel so bad

. I'm pretty good about sitting down and watching new purchases, plus my wife would probably kill me if I started getting so many that I couldn't keep up

I don't know why everyone hates DB/DBZ so much
Mainly because it's repetitive, stupid, and gives anime a bad reputation.

I'm really hoping someone licenses Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon live-action. It's soooo good
That series has a snowball's chance in hell of making it to the US. Now that series is fucking CHEESY!!!!

Well, the biggest amount of DVDs I've ever gotten in one shipment is 6. Of course, that was when I ordered my Cowboy Bebop bundle from Amazon.

I've known that for a long time.

Quote:
I know for a fact you've only seen one episode
Not just one. I've seen at least 2 or 3, and pieces of a few more. I hated DBZ the first time I saw it and I still hate it now. That's all there is to it, and you can't change what I think. So :p)

Quote:
Gotta remember, this was these girls' first time acting.

That is 100% irrelevant to the point I am trying to make. The content of the show is terrible in my eyes.

Yeah, I know. I need to get on it sometime, but I just don't feel motivated enough to do it.
Edit: Whoa, I just realized that Rob probably meant the live action Sailor Moon! Stupid me. :b

LOL

That is awesome... Thanks for the Humour Check, Bryan.
Oh - and did you get a chance to check out the manga?
*hint hint - read/skim Berserk, Hellsing, Trigun, Rurouni Kenshin, Ranma 1/2 for yourself first. "Getting it for the cousin/nephew/niece/etc." is a good excuse as any.

Woo, Rob:
I haven't eaten much packaged/dried ramen lately; it's all been frozen. I was able to try the fresh ramen they serve at both of the local Uwajimayas here, though. The one in Seattle tasted the best, although the soup seemed more like wonton soup than shoyu ramen soup. The one in Bellevue wasn't quite as good, although the soup base was closer to what I'd expect. I still really want to go on a ramen sampling trip to Japan

, but I'll have to wait on that.
Unfortunately, I don't have any anime watching news. I spent 3 hours after work last night getting my internet connection back up. I was on hold with Qwerst (Qwest) for an hour, and they didn't pick up. I swapped out my ethernet card for a spare, which the guy on Tuesday recommended, but that didn't help. Finally, I uninstalled their damn driver (which wasn't needed anyway) and my firewall and virus scan software, which seemed to fix the issue. Since the only thing that had been added was their driver, I'm pretty sure that was the problem. I'd really like to get those 4-1/2 hours of my life from yesterday and Tuesday back

Heh personal computer problems stink.... but persocoms are CUTE~~ *thinks of Chobits and Chii~~~*
My 7" Atashi Plush and City Hunter TV Season 4 from my last TRSI has shipped. This means that once it gets here, my city hunter collection of ANIME will be nearly complete. (Movies and OVAs are all that's left - fun fun stuff; Ryo Saeba and Kaori are a great duo. And Ryo's perverseness is legendary as ... well as Ataru Moroboshi, except Ryo is actually good at what he does... hehe

You know, firewalls are funny things. I just installed Zonealarm Pro 4 on my pc at home this Saturday, and one of the korean webbased mp3/file players that my mom uses to listen to her favority songs from the web stopped functioning.
I have no idea what prevents it from working. Pisses me off to no end.

You might want to check and see if that program is being blocked. I use the Mcaffee one, and it lists all the programs that it knows about, and the blocking/filtering/passing info for it. I had a heck of a time setting up Jedi Academy MP. Since JA doesn't allow you to alt-tab out of it, the firewall would completely stop the computer, since it was waiting for user input which would never come. I finally figured out that I could just add the program beforehand :b.
I wouldn't mind a couple of persocoms shaped like Ayumi-chan and Tomiko-chan

I agree with Tony, live action Sailor Moon is horrible, too horrible to even think about really. The entire thing is cheesy, is this really what the Japanese like to watch? I have seen cosplayers with better costumes and 60s movies with better effects.
I'm also in the DBZ haterz crowd. I didn't like it when I was a younger and don't like it now. Pokemon seems more intellegent and better scripted.
Watched all of Pretear in one shot and really loved it. The entire series is just gorgeous, and the character development is stunning. I loved her different transformation outfits but that was just the icing on the cake. What a beautiful series... then watched Galaxy Angel Vol. 1. Not terribly engaging, but cute, fluff stuff. I was tired and enjoyed it.
As for the most DVDs I ever recieved at once. That probably goes to the Sailor Moon 1 & 2 sets that I got at the same time. Total of about 16 discs, plus six other DVDs that showed up at the same time. But I have placed orders of like 20 before from DDD. Usually a mix of cheapie movies and one or two animes... and the days of Best Buy binges during their 10% off weekend sales... really racked up a couple of times there.
I have three more DVDs of the animated variety on their way right now, Puni, World of Narue and Gunsmith Cats.

They've got a pic.
Pretty slick.

I finished up Najica Blitz Tactics this evening, a series which doesn't seem to get much talk, either way. I found it to be a rather enjoyable series, sort of like James Bond in a short skirt, with panty shots galore. definitely not mind blowing, but not a bad way to spend a few hours. I give it a 'B'.
