Re: Whats the last TV DVD you bought

Larry Harmon's Bozo Collection 1. $7 at DeeDees. Haven't seen this since I was 4, 5 or 6 or something. Around 1970. I'll find out if it should have stayed that way! Definitely joking! I have fond memories of Bozo and most are so foggy that this can only be a real trip back in time. Can't wait! I don't think it will top Sesame Street Old School for the nostalgic slap in the face but it may be close. And for entertainment value it will probably pale beside Howdy Doody.

I blind-bought the HBO mini-series EMPIRE FALLS and finally got around to starting collecting SEINFELD by picking up the Seasons 1,2 & 3 and Seasons 5 &6 R2 sets. Which means I need to pick up Season 4 next, before the final three seasons.

Bring these sets on!

With shipping that would be a little over $25. I'll throw in a cheap movie to get free shipping and snag that someday soon. Zardoz is like $5.50. Hahahaha!

I hate that that one isn't selling well. Probably no hope for the rest of the series. I have 6 or 7 left since I've been slooooooooowly watching them. At least I hope they will hand these off to another company. Shout! or that company in Canada that was going to release them before. I want to buy the damn things!!!

Re: Whats the last TV DVD you bought

Guess what gang? ANOTHER Dealer was giving out Gift Cards Today! So I got mine, then went over to Wally's and "Relieved" them of the Sci-Fi Movie Fahrenheit 451. This movie will keep another acquisition "Company" a Movie that a certain Studio REFUSES to release here in the USA, out of fear of reprisals from Minority Groups! I was able to get it from "Other Sources" What's so Ironic about this movie is, even though they won't make it availble on DVD, the same company has two Theme Park Rides in this country that are based on this movie!

Fahrenheit 451 predicted a world like this, and like Guy Montag I am taking a Stand!

Your post left me dizzy.

Great film though. Is that the old version? If so, I love how the opening credits are spoken and not written. Very cool.

Re: Whats the last TV DVD you bought

Old Version? When did they make a new version? It's the 1966 Version, where all the credits are SPOKEN. I like the scene with the Big Screen TV, back when this movie was made it was fantasy, now Big-Screen TVs are commonplace. (I have two of them! )

I hope you aren't confusing this with the POS Fahrenheit 911

Re: Whats the last TV DVD you bought

Just visit all the Auto dealers in your area and get on their Mailing Lists (Both E and "Snail".) They'll send you flyers announcing their latest promotion and about every six weeks (On Average) one of them will invariably give away a card (Usually Targhee or Wallys) or a Stack of "Golden Dollars". In both cases its usually $5.00 or $10.00, once I got one for $25.00 and a couple of weeks ago I scored one for $50.00 It's good, cheap entertainment!

Re: Whats the last TV DVD you bought

T.V. Commercials: The Ultimate Collection (613 Commercials).

This was a fun buy yesterday. I saw it in Sam's Club, and couldn't resist. It only cost me $17.00. The set consists of six discs, categorized by different genres: classic cars, classic food and beverages, classic cigarette commercials, classic children's toys, classic celebrity commercials (including endorsements by Lucille Ball, John Wayne, Frank Sinatra, James Cagney, the Marx Brothers, Ozzie & Harriet, et al.), and unforgettable commercials (the weird, wacky, and downright bizarre). The commercials are from 1950-1980.

I've only watched one disc thus far, and surprisingly, the prints are quite good. Highly recommended.

I thought there was a remake. The 1966 one is exactly what I was thinking. I remember those TVs. It's been years. Great film.

I haven't seen F911 yet. I like Bowling for Columbine though.

Re: Whats the last TV DVD you bought

^DVD Planet. They are having a "Fire Sale" on some Image titles. Also used a coupon code (each is a one-time per customer code):

MAY05 = $5 off $60 (Expires: 05/31/2009)
MAY010 = $10 off $120 (Expires: 05/31/2009)
MAY015 = $15 off $175 (Expires: 05/31/2009)

BUT it's being reported in the DVDTalk forums that the main page link is now gone and the prices are back up to "normal" prices in spite of the sale banner indicating it was to last until 5/15/09. Here's the link to the sale page but currently prices are *not* that good.

EDIT:
The link I posted now takes you to the "home" page of DVDPlanet. If you search for the titles in the sale you'll still see the sale prices *but* if you click on the link to the title OR put it in your cart the price jumps up to the "regular" price. It's rather curious because the sale banner advertised an ending date of 5/15/09. Speculation is they sold way more than expected and pulled it early.

I think the prices on The Twilight Zone are high but you do get a heck of a product for the money you spend- everyone knows the show is a masterpiece but the episodes look great and there's a nice amount of extras for a show of its age.
