Changing drivers on speaker kits

Say you wanted to build some small speakers from a kit, but wanted to use some other driver (for whatever reason). Is that ok or will it screw up the overall design?

Shane,

That will screw it up. The cab is sized for the driver, the crossover is designed for the driver. So switching drivers will probably not work.
