Re: Worst Movies Ever Made?
I just watched a movie called Final Cut [Starring Robin Williams] that I found iat Wal-Mart in thir bargain bin. Let's just say that now I know why it was in that bin. OK concept, but very poor execution.

This is also one of the funniest if you're watching it late at night and are half-loaded. There is nothing else that comes close to this. It's beyond amateurish; beyond awful. It's almost sublime in its mind-numbing stupidity.

My vote for number 1 goes to Speed 2: Cruise Control. That movie is in a league of it's own.
Batman and Robin gets a close second, but doesn't score the top spot simply because I understand that their intent was to be more like the 60's TV show then the comic books.
Wild Wild West was the first movie that I saw in the theater where I actually said to myself "Geez, this is bad!" and for the first time, felt uncomfortable and eager to leave while watching a movie. Shortly after that came The Haunting (1999). Ouch.

Re: Worst Movies Ever Made?
The Blair Witch Project ( no typo here. Never saw the second one)
That movie went from annoying to wishing I had knives to stab my eyes out bad. we saw it in the theater after it had been out about a week I believe, and after it ended, everyone in the entire theater just sat there quiet, until one guy stood up and said " is that it?" Pretty much my thoughts on the whole thing.
I know this movie is golden to so many people because of all the hype around it and how it was filmed..blah blah blah..... what a piece of crap! Not only was the acting beyond horrible, but the camera shaking, black outs and whining bitch fests that the characters had made this movie so over the top annoying.
I remember when people talked about how scary it was and how they couldn't sleep for weeks after seeing it. The scariest part of the movie was how much I paid to see it and all those minutes I wasted that I will never get back.
I love movies that can scare and not show a lot of gore, but this one didn't even make me squirm even a little bit. I sat there the entire movie rolling my eyes at the non stop " we're lost!", " where is the map?" " I'm so scared", " what the hell was that noise?" and then to have it just end with what I thought was probably the most ridiculous ending. I don't know it was boring.
Oh yeah and that other piece of crap movie called The Cell! Walked out of that one and demanded my money back.

Re: Worst Movies Ever Made?
Hehe...this is a fun thread. I think, like others have stated, that a really bad movie has more to do with what they achieved with the budget. That is, "Armageddon" is a really bad film when you consider the huge budget it had and the fact that many of the actors in the film are quite good. Now, if that film had been done for 5 million and featured relatively unknowns, I think it would be considered pretty damn good! Also, the "hype" around a movie can taint an opinion. I someone gave me a copy of "Blair Witch Project" and I had known nothing about it, I would think it was a really cool concept and pulled off pretty damn well considering the budget. But, when you hear the massive hype surrounding it and how it is re-invented the horror genre and it is "sooo scary", then, I think, it really fails to live up to that.
I agree that there are 2 types of "bad" movies. Ones that I just cant stand for various reasons, such as "Thin Red Line" and then those that are just very poorly done technically or poorly acted etc. but that dont necessarily drive me nuts. The many old sci-fi films people listed would fall in that category.
As an actor who has been in some not-so-good movies, what really drives me nuts is seeing writers/directors do dumb things with the movie. That is, they make the movie silly or have the characters do stupid things that make no sense. It is not a question of the movies budget or the talent of the actors, just dumb choices by the writer/director. I think that is why I love any movie that brings intelligence to the screen. Something like "Fight Club" where I am left thinking about the movie long after seeing it.

I predict this thread could get real ugly, real soon. When people start saying movies like The Matrix and Star Wars are some of the worst movies ever made it's clear this thread is becoming a joke.

Re: Worst Movies Ever Made?
I just read through this entire thread, and I have to say, some of you folks put a LOT of thought into what you consider the "worst movies ever made." I agree with many of your choices, and have no intention of re-listing them here. I'd just like to add a few of my own personal "demons," films that I literally said "There's *.* hours of my life shot to hell." I didn't see these in anyone's lists:
The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl - I like Rodriguez' films. I enjoyed his "Spy Kids" films, even. I know I'm not the intended audience for this kind of movie, and I didn't see it in 3-D, but I think it's the only movie I shut off in the middle in the last 10 years.
Career Opportunities - I only went to see it because I thought that Jennifer Connelly was the most beautiful girl that I had ever seen up to that point in my life (she's still in my top 10...maybe even top three). Her face was the only thing that kept me in the theater.
Pearl Harbor - I found it excruciating (and I LOVE Kate Beckinsale). To me, it was nothing more than a three-hour attempt to cash in on the success of "Titanic."
Lord of Illusions - Came out the same year as "Showgirls." The reason I remember that fact is because I thought it was the only film I had seen that year that I thought was worse than "Showgirls."
Eye of the Beholder - I'll bet you can't even remember a THING about this one, until I remind you that it starred Ewan McGregor and Ashley Judd.
Feeling Minnesota and Sweet November - I lump these two together because I often can't remember which one is which. I know they're WILDLY different films, but they both star Keanu Reeves, and one of them had Jason Isaacs in drag.
Oh, yeah, the other film I had to shut off before it killed me was Harvard Man. I Netflixed it because I like Sarah Michelle Gellar, and because Roger Ebert gave it a BIG "thumbs up." What the F**K?!!!!

She comes at night, when you're all alone
And when she whispers, your blood shall run cold

The main villain was Krueger from Seinfeld. I couldn't get past it.

Re: Worst Movies Ever Made?
Supergirl and Superman IV were really bad and I saw them at the cinema! Mercifully I managed to avoid Jaws the Revenge until it came to video. Jaws IV is my personal pick for
Worse Movie Of All Time, taking in consideration the budget, the director, the script and the star, Michael Caine who starred in a whole crapload of terrible films back in the late 70's and 80's.
Than we have epic turds like
Battlefield Earth, which is in it's own class of badness, but I have to admit to enjoying it's inanities, the ridiculous dialogue, the campy acting. I bought the dvd, he shamelessly admitted.

Recent bad films I've cringed thru include Machine Girl, Zombie Strippers and 10,000 BC.

That gets my vote. I saw Eye of the Beholder in the theater and it took every bit of willpower I had to keep from leaving(and sticking my head in the hot dog oven at the concession stand). I've seen a lot of bad movies in my life, but I it takes the cake as worst ever. I'll also throw in some votes for Batman and Robin, Van Helsing, Wild Wild West and the Mummy Returns, but those films are all still more watchable than Eye of the Beholder.

So the inclusion of one song you don't like makes it one of the worst movies ever made?

People are picking on popular movies to sound "outrageous" and daring. Anyone who believes "Titanic", "Star Wars" - even the much-derided prequels - or "Matrix" are among the worst flicks ever made either are being obnoxious to be provocative or they've not seen many movies...

How about Dr. T and the Women? One of the few films I almost walked out on in a movie theater.
