American Pie - which version ?

Having enjoyed the third film, I decided to finally buy the first one but it has been released far too many times.

Can someone let me know what the current best version of this film is (in terms of extras), and whether any of the other version has additional extras not on the best version.

I just got the original release unrated coupled with "Beneath the Crust, Vol. 1" for $19.95 US at the Best Buy in the Cambridge Galleria a week or so back. You should be able to import it for roughly that, minus shipping.

The main difference between the rated and the unrated is the manner in which the titular pie is fucked. If you want the full on flat on the counter missionary fucking, get the unrated version. If you prefer the pelvic thrust action as well as the priceless turn around reveal when his dad walks in, get the R rated version.

Although, I have to say that though both are great I enjoyed the third one more. The emotional honesty was a lot higher, and the characters better formed.

As for the honest answer-you're probably best to wait for the box set-there's probably more extras in store, like the full BTC documentary. I understand that the first 2 discs that they're offering now are just a sample of what will be available when AP3 comes out on disc.

Yes, don't buy anymore American Pie on DVD until all three are available with the entire BTC at the end of the year.

Waiting for Xmas may be a plan, but, if one can't wait, which version is best to get? I don't mean Rated versus Unrated, or Widescreen versus MAR, but of the Unrated Widescreen versions which version of the unrated version has the most or best extras?

There's been 3 releases of American Pie Unrated Widescreen Version, right? An original, an Ultimate in a translucent plastic package, and now a third one that has another disc shrink wrapped onto it? All three variants are available used around me (or new in the case of the shrink wrapped one), but I dont know which to get.

What's the best - for an Alyson fan, particularly?

Re: American Pie - which version ?

Does anyone expect a new American Pie DVD to be released next year in celebration of its tenth anniversary? Has anyone heard any rumours of such a release?

Re: American Pie - which version ?

Haven't heard; but it would be nice to have an anniversary version, but with all 3 films, and in BluRay to top it off! I'd sure buy it. Plus I was an extra in the 2nd one; gotta post a screen cap of that here someday (actually I think I already did in the forum, somewhere or other).

Should such a boxset be the three theatrical movies only, or include the direct-to-video sequels?

(just throwing the question out for discussion, folks...)
