Comcast Cable Digital Audio Quality

Ok tonight I found a feature on my reciever I never knew it had I've looked through the manual and it never covered it. At any rate I've got a Yamaha Reciever and I found tonight that if you have it in the stereo mode and press the down or up button on the remote the display will show what audio format its decoding i.e. DD/DTS/PCM and then next show the number of channels and LFE depending on what info is in the data Stream and shows it like 3/2/lfe for instance, next it shows the Frequency Sample rate i.e. 48khz, and then the bitrate, and last if they're are any flags in the audio stream. Only took me 3 months to find this feature at anyrate I decided to see what different audio modes are used through a cable box connected to it with an optical cable and this is what I found.

Analog channels - 48khz 16 bit audio.
Regular Digital Channels - Dolby Digital 2.0 at 48khz 128kbps.
Programming in 5.1 presented in its originally recorded bitrate.
Music Choice - Dolby 2.0 48khz 192kbps.
DMX - Dolby 2.0 48khz 128kbps.

I just got the Music Choice Service and thought it sounded better than the old DMX and now that I know this it makes sense why.

Useless knowledge but interesting none the less. And if you've got a Yammy reciever throw it in stereo mode and try this out.
