Cotton rocks!

BOBBY: Grandpa [Cotton] doesn't even know your name.
LUANNE: He does so. I'm "Missy Melons."

I don't know as this is my favorite animated show but its pretty close.

2 of my favorite episodes are when they're fire fighters, and my all time favorite the Order of the Straight Arrow.

One of my favorite scenes is in the fire fighters episodes when Boomhauer is telling the storry, and during the flash back, Boomhauer speaks normally and Hank is the 1 with the jumbled voice.

One of my favorite lines, I can't recall the episode which stinks cause it should be obvious given the line, but it goes like this:

Bobby (really loud) "I don't like girls!"
Hank: "Bobby, you keep talking like that and people are gonna think you ain't right."

as well as some of the others that were mentioned.

Favorite characters, Hank, Boomhauer, and Cotton.

This season has bee really good so far.

That's from "Plastic White Female," the episode where Bobby gets over his fear of girls by practicing on Luanne's practice head from beautician's school. It's on the first season DVD set.

King of the Hill is my favorite animated show ever. The show's sense of humor is very close to my own.

And yes, Cotton rocks!

My favorite episode has to be A Firefightn' We Will Go. I don't remember any lines from that one however, the one line that made me roll on the floor was the quote below.

DALE: I don't know what to do with this hand, that's why I smoke

Mine, too. Or is it Junkie Business? Or the crack-fishing one, or the Green Day one, or Bobby in the doghouse, or...

Dangit, Fox just announced that starting February 8 King of the Hill will move back a half an hour to 7:00 so midseason returnee Oliver Beene can take the 7:30 slot. While I know logically this doesn't make much difference for the rest of the season (since the move doesn't happen until the end of football season), and while I sort of understand why they changed their plan to put Beene in that 7:00 slot (Futurama proved that no struggling show could survive there, even after football season), it still pisses me off to see KotH get the only timeslot more thankless than the one it has now. It's like Fox considers it their "utility" show: they keep renewing it, but it has to constantly step aside to make room for whatever show Fox is pushing (in this case, Beene).

One can only pray that KotH has a new timeslot in the fall, or we'd be in for a series of pre-emptings that will make the recent ones look mild by comparison.

I am not sure of the episode name but the one of my favorites is the one with Bobby getting the job at the race track with that crazy loon of a boss Mr. Wichard..guessing a quote from him, "The people in the stands are hot and dry, and they want something cold and wet...I'm the baws" and (to Bobby) "Put the suit on mokeyboy!" Hilarious!

Reviving this thread: KotH may be the Dangerfield among Fox's long-running shows (stuck in the early-evening slot; forced to move back and forth to make room for flops like "Oliver Beene"), but at least it doesn't get cancelled, and it's still good. I watched the new episode last night with a friend who's not a big fan of KotH, and she was laughing a lot. Of course, it's hard not to laugh when Cotton's around. "'We accept Blue Cross?' What kinda brothel is this?"

Other great episodes so far this season are the one where Peggy gives Hank testosterone (turning him into an aggressive, obnoxious teenager with acne) and the episode where Luanne and Bill become trendy hairstylists. As of last night's episode, or maybe last week's, Luanne is now living with the Hills again, which suits me fine because I find her consistently funny ("Lightning is like God taking our picture before He kills us").

I wish Fox would just give this show back the 8:30 slot so it could be free of football pre-emptions, but I guess as long as they keep renewing it, I can't complain too much.

Yeah, the show hangs in there even though Fox seemed to lose interest in it after the first couple of seasons (and is losing interest in The Bernie Mac Show, sadly). Still a solid show after all these years - if one episode doesn't work, the next one will. I loved the Peggy-as-cheerleader-coach episode. And an appearance by Kahn is always a boost.

Re: "King of the Hill" appreciation thread

I decided to bump this thread, rather than start a new one.

I remember thinking this show was a spinoff of Beavis & Butt-Head, featuring Tom Anderson, when it first premiered, and wondered how it would work on network TV.

I'm glad to see the show back, and hopefully, it will stick around for a while. Clearly, one of the most underrated shows. And this time, a much better time slot, and a much better "filler" between The Simpsons and Family Guy than The War at Home.

I always love hearing Boomhauer talk, and the one episode where he talked clearly, while his friends talked jibberish, was hilarious.

I read that Fox has already given the go ahead for season 12. Thank you, Fox. Still pissed about your handling of Arrested Development, but this helps a bit.

And you believe, at heart, everyone's a killer...

That's great to hear.

I laugh almost everytime whenever Hank says "I'm gonna to kick your ass!"

The final episodes aired last night. If you didn't see it, you can see the finale on Hulu. Mike Judge has said that whey they produced that episode they didn't know it would be the "series finale" (it had not been cancelled yet). However it does wrap up nicely at the end.

I'm going to miss this show. It's probably my favorite show ever. I admit that it became less funny in the last few years, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it. It was very unique, not just as an animated comedy but as a family comedy as well.

I thought the last couple years were the best they had done in awhile.

Anyway, vaya con dios to the good people of Arlen, TX. And I hope the 2 unaired episodes turn up on Cartoon Network, since unless Shout! Factory (who has a deal with Fox for their library) wants them, seasons 7-13 will never be on DVD.

Boomhauer is a Texas Ranger!?!
Wow!  I always wondered what he did, but that would not have been my first guess!

I'm going to miss this show...

Thanks for posting that, Robert Flot. For some reason, that scene totally went over our head when we were watching it.

I really hope to see the rest of this series on DVD; I honestly cannot think of any program that was more consistently 'on' every single time. Sure, there was the occasional...I can't even say dud because that's too harsh for KOTH. But it really was a great series from the beginning all the way up to the end.

FYI, there are four more episodes that have not aired yet.  It looks like they will premiere either in syndication or on Adult Swim.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_King_of_the_Hill_episodes#Episodes_Airing_in_Syndication
