Found more stuff:

The recent repeats of The Young Ones on BBC2 on Friday nights have led to a new audience for the series first shown in the early 1980s. But did you know that because the original episodes were 35 minutes long the repeats cut five minutes from each episode, to fit the 30 minute Friday night slot?

When SKY TV was launched, The Young Ones were regularly repeated, first on
The Comedy Channel and now on UK Gold. Alas, these were heavily cut to fit
within the 30 minute time-limit.

Well, the good news is that the reported running time of the DVDs seem to sync up nicely with your report of a 35 minute running time for each episode. The division is right, anyway. I guess we'll wait and see. I don't expect to have the review copy for a while yet, though.

Didn' the original BBC report that these were coming use the word "uncut", though?

Were these shot on video or film? If video, does that mean there will be a slowdown in transferring from PAL to NTSC? Maybe R2 is the way to go on these....

They were shot on Video Tape, so I would suggest that the running time would remain the same on both PAL and NTSC.

I've got a feeling however that there may have been the odd film insert in some episodes.
I maybe wrong, but I seem to remember the Bus going over the cliff, was on Film.
