I have a Pioneer Dvd player that I have been using since Mid 1997 When there were about 10 Dvd's out at Blockbuster!

June of 1998 I bought a Encore DVD 2x for my computer... and I was hooked.
Spring of 1999 I bought a Pioneer 414 player which still runs great for a coworker who I sold to when I upgraded

I was there at the beginning. A Toshiba 3006 in late March or early April 1997. My niece and nephew are still using it.

Those were the days. Columbia/Tristar had 4 titles (I think). Warner had a couple dozen, including a bunch of MGM releases. Universal was taking a wait-and-see attitude, and Fox, Paramount and Disney wouldn't touch the format with a 10-ft. pole. And Image Entertainment was desperately clinging to their LD market and would soon start filling their catalogue with the logo "Only Available on Laserdisc".

Those first players were excellent apparently. I bought my Toshiba SD 2006 in July 1997. Used it without any problem in my main room, until 2 months ago, when it was moved to the bedchamber (to make room for a multi-region Pioneer).

I started with the Creative Labs Encore DVD 2x in May '98 and bought a Panasonic A-350 (which is the european equivalent to the Pana A-300 I think) in late '98.

I bought a Panasonic A310 during the summer of 98. I sold it to a friend a couple years later and it died on him. :frowning:
