Yamaha RX-V575 vs. Sony STRDN1030? (1 Viewer)

I am looking for a 7.1/7.2ch receiver and these are the two I've narrowed down to. One of my main requests is to be able to section off 2 channels into a 2nd zone. I know the yamaha can do this, but can the Sony? Other than that I wanted know thoughts, opinions, personal comparisons, and factual comparisons. Which one should I get?Thanks! Eli

If you want Zone 2, you need the 675. As the 575 does Zone B.

Zone B and Zone 2 are not the same thing.

And, you do realize on both of those AVR the Zone 2 is analog only. Meaning the "network features" aren't available for Zone 2.

However, if you meant Zone B, then yes the Yamaha can Zone B the networked features in another room...

Zone B isn't Multi-Zone.

Zone B is what used to be called Speaker B.

Speaker A and B are the same "zone". The 5.1 "portion" is the speaker A.

In other words...do you want your sound here(Zone A) or over there(Zone B).

Multi-Zone, or Zone 2...or if you go higher in the line-up, Zone 3 is...

Zone 1(the 5.1) is a movie.
Zone 2 is whatever else you want(ipod? CD?).
Zone 3 is whatever else you want.

Also, Zone A and B is the same volume in both.
Multi-Zone is different sources and volume.

So from what i'm understanding Zone A/B would be like, Do I want to play my music through speakers in this room, or switch it to the 2 speakers in the other room?

Where as Zone 1/2/so on (multi-zone) would give me the capability to play a movie through my 5.1 setup in one room while at the same time play whatever else such as music on the 2 other speakers in the other rooms.

I'm still pretty confused about all this
