Apparantly Eric does not want to play. I vote that we skip him for now. Any other input? I mean, it's the first round.

Well, I'm ready to go, but Chuck is running this, so I'll wait for him to say so before I make my selection.

Well, it is annoying... twice I've checked and he was online but didn't post. But, I say we give him the customary 24 hours. Which means has a little over 5 hours to make his pick.

Hey, I'm here! I'm sorry, I usually only visit the forum at work. [IMG]

Anyway, I apologize for holding things up. My first choice is:

    Vladimir Nabokov

I've only read Lolita, but [IMG]

George is up. For any spectators reading this, we still need 3 more people!

I'll join in. This will be my first draft so if I screw something up, I'm just an expansion team![IMG]

I figured that would be a first round pick. I like a lot of his stuff (particularly his short stories/novellas, The Stand, The Shining, and Firestarter) but hated others (Cujo, It, Tommyknockers).

    Jan, you're next!

    D'oh, sorry Rain!

If 15 more folks mysteriously happen to come out of the woodwork and show interest before the end of round 1, I'll expand it to 32. But I don't see that happening.

William Shakespeare - it's a fairly obvious choice, but no other writer has had close to the impact that Shakespeare has had on my life and career.

    Wow, now, this is tough.

Um, well, since I love the genre, I guess I'll go with the "Father of Sceince Fiction":

    Jules Verne
