If so, check out my post in the Studio Feedback Forum.
I was discussing this joyously retarded movie with a friend earlier and it got me to thinking...the Scary Movie flicks have made some large cash and those movies are a lot like Student Bodies.

Plus it's got that built-in bad-movie nostalgia vibe on it. The vibe that helps DVDs like Supergirl and Krull turn a profit.
I know there was some behind-the-scenes strife on Student Bodies, with director Michael Ritchie ultimately taking his name off the pic. Plus it's a really weird freakin' movie, too.
I think this title may be my new crusade. Or will be my new crusade once I get that freakin' Legend DVD in my hands.
Anyone think there's a shot in hell that Paramount would release this one?

Well since you asked -
I really wish the studios would devote more time to their older titles. ( Fortunately Paramount has been doing a nice job in this regard compared to some of the other studios. ) With so many classics, or near classics unreleased, I'm having a difficult time fathoming all of the requests for '80s cheese. Just recalling Martin Blythe's request thread, I can think of a number of more deserving titles. ( Sorry. I realize that a variety of genres should be served; so more power to your quest for Student Bodies; but I'd much rather have Hud or The Miracle of Morgan's Creek or The President's Analyst or The Naked Prey, etc., etc. )
- Walter.

With all due respect, Steve..."good movies", classics and such that still aren't available on DVD, will almost certainly be released at some point. Lesser-known films like Brain Donors, Student Bodies, and yes even Drop Dead Fred are in danger of never seeing the light of day. These titles have the same right to see the light of day digitally as any of the classics, if not moreso.
Like any company is seriously going to overlook releasing classic titles that are loved by everyone. Sure, Warner Bros. hasn't been so good with this, but it's not like we're NEVER going to see any of their classics on DVD. I mean, get real people. Just because your classics aren't released on DVD right off the bat doesn't mean anything. Films like the ones I've mentioned may NEVER get a release. Think how that makes the fans of those films feel when you put them down. I love classics (of which The Third Man is a favorite of mine now) but I'm not about to say that they're more important than any other type of film.
With that being said, I'd love to see Student Bodies released on DVD. I signed your petition in the Feedback area. Please Paramount, release this one soon before it's long since forgotten! The best part: when the killer calls an intended victim and speaks through a rubber chicken. lol. :D

Sounds like I ruffled a few feathers. For that, I apologize - I'll humbly concede that my critique of Drop Dead Fred could have been a little more diplomatic. :)
BTW, to whoever sent me the email, please don't do that again. You're certainly free to disagree with me, but quasi-insulting emails aren't necessary. Thanks.

After my sister bought a copy off of e-bay for me, since it was one of my all time favorites (not quite 2001 or Fight Club, but still...) I love horror films and always have and since catching this on a late night showing and catching hell for not being in bed on time the next morning, my life became a furtive, wasted effort at attempting to locate those two magic words together in the movie guide section of TVGuide. Granted the VHS is nice for when the mood strikes, DVD would serve even better. Hopefully I can get my self a copy and paperclip it somewhere between my horse head bookends...
Shamelessly copied and pasted from myself to/from the other thread re:Student Bodies in order to garner some attention to/from both threads. No legality or illegality is implied or consented to/from these statements. All is permitted. Nothing is allowed.

Wes,
I remember saying to a friend "Wouldnt it be cool to have Run Run Shaw movies or Star Blazers on DVD" "Never!!" was his response.
Theyre lots of stuff I would have put money on not be released and its sitting on the shelves, so with some patience I think eventually theyll come to DVD.

Steve, it's cool. :) I've never seen Drop Dead Fred myself, but I see a lot of HTFers complain when their favorite classic movies and whatever don't get released. A lot of people also seem to have a problem with how successful my Terror Train petition has turned out (150 signatures so far). The classics are going to get released eventually. It's movies like Terror Train, Student Bodies, etc. that may never see the light of day. That's all I was saying. :)
I didn't send any e-mails, by the way. Must've been someone else.

Yeah I thought this film was stupid fun but it has been quite a while since I last saw it.......funny how I still remember so many jokes from it though, huh?
"Hey, you can't park there"
"Being beautiful can be a handicap too, you know."
"Aww Malvert feels rejected."
Well at least I think I remember these lines.

"Did you hang up?"

"No, I just said click."

Not to overanalyze, but what was the deal with the sign language? And what's the famous joke about the R rating? I've only seen it on Comedy Central.

I would get this in a heartbeat... I still can't believe my good fortune of finding it on LD 3 years after it was OOP.

Hmmm, I love Student Bodies, but only the females. :)
Actually I would buy this movie all joking aside. I have found I buy lots of movies on DVD. In fact I am begining to think that it is time to start a DVDaholics program to aid people like me that have become addicted to these things. I figure I don't want to do one of those non-profit type things I am going to do it more like a Betty Ford Clinic for the rich. Then I will use the profits to continue funding my adiction to DVDs. :D

For sure, I'd buy "Student Bodies" on DVD. It would replace my worn VHS copy. My favorite element is the on-screen body count number that comes up. The boobies part in the locker room scene is funny too. Definitely wanted, Paramount.

Judging by the size of your DVD collection, I'd say that might seriously be a very good idea. I mean... yikes, is there any movie you WOULDN'T buy?

Back on subject, while I wouldn't ever pay a nickel for Student Bodies, every film has its fans and deserves a release.

And Drop Dead Fred is my least favorite movie of all time. Good call, Steve.

Oh yeah. I'd buy this one for sure. Years ago a friend of mine and I would always go and buy some beer and get drunk watching this when it was on cable. Ahhh, the memories. Of course, I am more mature then I was back then so now I'd watch it and only drink enough beer to catch a good buzz. See, I can drink resposibly :)
