Word 97 Help! (1 Viewer)

Can someone tell me why my Word 97 takes so long to close? Can you tell me how to fix this?

Umm... has it always taken this long, or only recently? Did you install anything new? What speed is your computer?

PIII 333Mhz. This has been going on for awhile and I haven't intalled anything recently. Would it make a difference if I had a large number of .doc files?

A couple of things I thought of that could cause this:

• FindFast could be doing something (re-indexing) when you close Word. Go into Control Panel and disable FindFast--all it does is slow down your PC
• You could have a macro virus. If you have a properly configured, up to date antivirus program running you will probably know this. If not, I recommend getting one.

If you suspect a virus and don't have a virus scanner, feel free to create a small Word document and email it to me, and I'll scan it for you.
