This won't be happening. The X-Files was edited on video at 480i resolution. The original film would have to be re-scanned in HD and every episode re-edited from scratch. All effects shots would have to be re-created from scratch also.

I'd love the original Wicker Man on Blue.

Not in Region A, at least. If I recall correctly, this was one of the Criterions that was voted upon in an Amazon poll back in the summer of 2009. I hope it eventually makes its way to Region A on Blu-ray. Lovely film.

This is supposed to be coming out later this month, but it's anybody's guess whether it'll be yet another subpar catalog release from Universal -- so far, it does not looking promising at all considering the subpar releases available elsewhere outside the USA along w/ that of the previous HD-DVD version.

Only ten movies... So it would be:

- Bad Boys 2

- The 'Burbs

- Conan the Barbarian

- Dragonheart

- Ghostbusters 2

- Pulp Fiction

- Jackie Brown

- Brotherhood of the Wolf (Le Pacte des Loups - Region A)

- Willow

- Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

I'm pretty sure the "Titanic" perfect release date is around April 2012, as the real tragedy happened on April 10, 1912.

The rumored release date for the Titanic 3-D re-release is February 2012 so my guess is that the Blu-ray will be out in the fall 2012.

One more oddball, but worth it: would like to see "The West Wing" on bluray. It was shot entirely on film, so this should be a no-brainer.

This is a great list! Thanks so much for reminding us about Murder by Death, Sleuth, Deathtrap, and Victor/Victoria, all of which would be MOST welcome in high definition, especially since Sleuth and Deathtrap weren't given very good DVD releases.

Lord of the Rings EE

Fanny and Alexander

Barry Lyndon

Brideshead Revisited (Jeremy Irons version)

Mary Poppins

The Lion in Winter (Peter O'Toole version)

Ryan's Daughter

Tess of the D'urbervilles (Roman Polanski version)

Local Hero

Far from the Madding Crowd (Hey, I like my Hardy, so sue me. )

If I really can only have 10, remove Mary Poppins and add 1776. I love that musical, and that's saying something, cause I am not really a fan of musicals.

Patty, aren't the LOTR EEs coming out at end of year? Or did I dream that...

I'm on board with your list, and I would rather have 1776 than Mary Poppins. Plus, I want the FULL version of Fanny & Alexander.
