Seeing you mention River of No Return reminded me there is no Marilyn Monroe on Blu-ray. In addition to the already mentioned River and The Seven Year Itch, how about There's No Business Like Show Business (its lush color and stereophonic sound would be just right for Blu-ray), Bus Stop, Some Like It Hot, and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Yes, I know we're getting All About Eve in February, but How to Marry a Millionaire just cries out for high definition.

Also The Crow with all the extras that were produced but which were shelved due to conflicts.

And Highlander: Endgame, the only sequel of any merit in the Highlander franchise.

I have an Extended version of Malena I'd like to see hit Blu-ray, along with all the other obvious Miramax titles. I don't know if the Dimension label is still with Disney but I wouldn't mind getting Blu-ray versions of the Scream films and, I know it's a long shot, but the Producer's Cut of Halloween 6. Other titles I'd like to see:

The Emerald Forest

Flight of the Phoenix '65

Runaway Train

Legend

The Fog

And the wonderful British label Arrow Films is filling the Eurohorror void with their awesome Argento and Fulci lineup and, it seems, they're expanding into the U.S horror market by releasing 1986's Vamp.

I would truly love to see this and the TV bumpers and end credits in 2011. Even though the theatrical was heavily edited for television broadcast which many grew up with, this is what I've held on to all these years later. It was on TCM this month with the overture and exit music. I hope both Albert Finney and Leslie Bricusse will be available for commentary.

Oh heck yeah! Can we list tv series we wish to be on Blu here too? If so:

Californication

Enterprise (it's already mastered in HD, should be easy!)

I think THE BIRDS is up for preorder on Amazon. Also, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. I am pretty sure THE 10 COMMANDMENTS will be an Easter release. They just finished up a documentary for it.

I am delighted for classic, older films like the upcoming Sherlock Holmes Rathbone series, and would love the Universal monster series to come out, as well as some of the top Abbott and Costello films, but I list below are for films I think would be the most improved with Blu Rays picture and sound on a large home system.

My 10 are:

IT'S A MAD MAD MAD MAD WORLD (which I think is being readied for Blu Ray, although the short version)

THE GREAT RACE

AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS (1956)

OLIVER!

MARY POPPINS

OKLAHOMA (Todd A-O version

THE KING AND I

JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH (1959)

KRAKATOA, EAST OF JAVA (roadshow, stereo sound..I know, a guilty pleasure) Disney owns this one now.

Interesting, I was just thinking about a few films I'd like to see.

1. The Time Machine (1960). I watch it every year New Years Day or around that time. An MGM film that Warners owns I believe since they put out that great DVD.
2. Grand Prix, another Warner title. One of the great racing films.

3. The Great Escape, a MGM film, so I am guessing this one won't be out for some time.

4. The War of The Worlds (1953)

5. The remaining Bond films

6. Star Trek The Motion Picture DC and the other 5 Star Trek TOS films as DC's.

7. When Worlds Collide, perhaps part of a double feature with the George Pal War of the Worlds.

8. Invasion of the Body Snatchers, original 1956 version

9. Forgot to add, the remaining Hitchcock films that have not been released on BD yet.

Ah...I would like to have all these as too. Exotica and The Sweet Herafter are my two favorite Canadian films EVER.

And also:

La belle et la bete

The Rules of the Game

The Big Country

My Darling Clementine

Lawrence Of Arabia

West Side Story

Rear Window

Passion of Joan Of Arc

I Know Where I'm Going

The Man Who Would Be King

Prospero's Books

The Pillow Book

Oh Brother Where Art Thou

Miller's Crossing

Chinatown

The Devil's Backbone

Raise The Red Lantern

Ju Dou

Fearless

Restoration

Brazil

Angels and Insects (fat chance, but since Ride With The Devil and Last Year At Marienbad made it to Blu there's always hope)

6-8 of these would be a good start ;-)
