I would assume only companies that are in MS partner programs like mine would actually get the sw. You had to know they would do some sort of check beforehand. But what the heck ya take a shot and no harm is done!

I just got an email saying that my company didn't match any in their database. Oh well.

I got the same e-mail.... but it also just said to reply with the name of my business. So I sent that in. The 4-6 weeks is still not up, but I assume the order is still active if you respond within the week they give you to reply with the name of your business....

I received the original confirmation only. Got the temp charge which later disappeared. I emailed them regarding status of order and received this somewhat sterile reply:

Just a side note ... if you work for microsoft, you can get it for 13 dollars to your door. If you know someone who works for MS, hit 'em up for it .. they know about it .. just don't talk about it ... .. my friends dad works for MS and get him and my friend each a copy ... I'm thinking about having him get me one too ..

Yup, I bought Win95 upgrade at the MS store when I visited MS with my cousin's friend whose Dad worked there for $15
and you don't have to register XP Pro

Where did you get this infomation? I have XP Pro, bought it off a friend who used to work for Microsoft who had bought and extra copy while he worked there that he was going to install on his dad's computer but didn't because of some problem with the motherboard. Anyway, I installed it and it DID required registration, I had to call a phone number, enter my CD key, then received the unlock key to enter during installation.

So I did have to register my copy of XP Pro.

I don't remember when I ordered. Still, hasn't shipped.. UPS website states, Billing Information recieved. I have Window XP Home right now.. hopefully Pro worth a wait.

I, too, have just received an e-mail notifying me of the shipment of my copy of XP Pro. I got a tracking number and instructions on how to track my order.

I will report all of the details when I finally get my copy.

I got email and UPS tracking number a few days ago, when I went to UPS site, it said billing information received on 6/18 and schedule to deliver on 6/20, but nothing yet. As this is one of those unusual tracks (in that it did not show where the package originated or where it's at), I may call them Monday and check. Sunrise just charged my CC on may be the 19.

I rechecked my UPS track again, it was updated, the package was shipped from Washington, arrived and left Oregon, scheduled to arrive the local N Cal UPS distribution center today and deliver to my address tomorrow, so we will see.
