'A proper 2-disc SE should be:

Anamorphic widescreen transfer

DD 5.1 and 2.0 Audio tracks

Commentary with John Hughes (either new or the one on the current DVD)

Commentary with Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck, Mia Sara , and Jennifer Grey.

Trivia Track

20 Years Later: A Look Back: Interviews with the Cast and Crew

Trailers and TV Spots

Photo Gallery "

I would like to add to the wish list a feature on the music of the film and why there never was a soundtrack released. And the underground internet swell of homemade soundtracks for the film. In fact go sa far as to to have the 2nd bonus disc be a proper soundtrack for the film!

Side note: It's been awhile, but we use to have the actor who played the principal come in to the casino quite often where I work.
And even funnier note is that we always play the main song(dont you forget about me) piped in through the casino.
:D Thats cracked me up.
Paul Gleason is his name, always enjoyed his acting. Any jobs going in the casino :D
Put me down for the special edition and a breakfast club one with some good special features would be nice aswell.

I'll only buy if it's a new transfer. The existing one looks good for its age, so other than maybe improved compression, I'm not sure what they will do.

What a lame name that is. I was thinking that "Save Ferris Edition" or "Life Moves Pretty Fast Edition" would be much cooler names. Anyone agree? "Ferris Bueller's Day Off: Bueller... Bueller Edition" seems too redundant and clunky to me. I think my suggestions are snappier and more appealing.

Ugh... what's with Paramount and these cheesy special edition subtitles now? This one ranks right up there with the awful Airplane "Don't Call Me Shirley" edition title. Is that the new trend now... using famous/funny quotes as the subtitle? I'm glad we never got the Godfather "Offer You Can't Refuse" Collection, or the Warriors "Come Out and Play" Edition. Jeez... makes it almost embarassing to buy.

Oh man, that'll be the third edition of Ferris I've owned, if I decide to upgrade.
I'd be all for a John Hughes boxset, with Ferris, Pretty in Pink, Some Kind of Wonderful, and Planes Trains and Automobiles special editions.
(Hopefully they can finally dig up the Pretty in Pink alternate ending...) :D

I may get this depending on what special features they come up with. Some deleted scenes may be pretty cool to see, and a new commentary with Broderick and Ruck would be awesome.

I don't know, I think there could be an appropriate movie quote for Star Wars on DVD: The "I've Got A Bad Feeling About This" Edition. :D (Of course, I'm talking about the special editions).

There could be an entire thread of cheesy "edition" titles:

The Weird Science "Forgot to hook up the doll edition"

The Breakfast Club "Neo Maxie Zoom Dweebie edition"

The Risky Business "Lets do it on a real train edition"

The Better Off Dead "Honk My Hooter edition"

The One Crazy Summer "Cute and Fuzzy Bunny edition"

I could go on and on..

Here's some alternate cheesy titles for SE's:

These three another fellow and I came up with for "Sixteen Candles":

"What A-Happening, Hot Stuff?" Edition

"Oh Sexy Girlfriend" Edition

"No More Yanky My Wanky" Edition

Some more possible "Ferris Bueller" titles:

"They Bought It" Edition

"You Killed the Car" Edition

"Danke Schoen" Edition

Or the Better Off Dead "Gee I'm sorry your mom blew up Billy" edition

And in Mr. Gleason's honor -

The Breakfast Club "I heard a ruckus" edition

or the "I'm crackin' skulls" edition

I'm still waiting for the Planes, Trains & Automobiles: "Those Aren't Pillows" edition, but maybe that's just wishful thinking. lol
Seriously though, I never purchased the original release of FBDO, so I'll definitely get this. I've seen this a million times on TV lately, and have yet to see it in its OAR. Can't wait.

Speaking of seeing it on TV, one of the reasons why I'm so anxious to get this movie on DVD is that TV channels always censor the hell out of it when I see it on TV. They cut out or dub over a lot of the swearing, which ruins the movie for me so much that I don't want to watch it till the end. With it on DVD, I can finally watch it from start to finish again.
