i couldnt find them at the JBL website
i listened to both but at idfferent stores so i couldnt compare side by side.
i seem to like the Polk ones a little better.
and any cheap Subwoofer reccemendations?

For the sub, try the Sony SA-WM40. It's a 120w 12" and it's supposed to be great for the price. I got mine for $169 shipped. As for the speakers, I also ordered the JBL NSP-1 Northbridge set. The link to the page on JBL's site is:

Polk over JBL would be my suggestion.

I haven't received mine yet. I asked about a good budget set of speakers and a lot of people recommended the JBL set. I'm getting them for $300 shipped with a $50 store gift card.
