Though I could take or leave Charlie and The

Chocolate Factory, I am actually very excited

that Pee-Wee's Big Adventure is finally coming

    to Blu-ray.

Many have speculated a new anniversary release

of Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory. This

would have seemed like the perfect opportunity

to roll that film out with the remake.

Even if they release Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory in an UCE, what are the chances it will be a new transfer? The other release was fine (except for maybe one shot that seemed to be framed too low, almost cutting off a speaking character's head...which may have been how it was supposed to be framed.) I guess we'll find out soon.

    Eric,

Frankly I don't know what Warner could do new with
Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory.

The digibook Blu-ray release is fine. Thing is, it has

been pulled from the market. This hints to many of us

that perhaps another reiteration is forthcoming.

They are going to have to do something more than

just slap a few new cast reunions on a new release

to get current owners of the BD to pony up for a new

    version.

I agree. I am not interested in a reproduction of a Golden Ticket or a Wonka Bar. I really don't know what they could add. The original dvd from 1997 had two trailers, and the 1996 trailer is missing on the blu. But I'm not going to pay for just that. I like the digibook. The packaging is so sparkly...lol.

Well, well, well. I guess the UCE of Wonka has also been announced for a 10/4 release. And I called it on the Wonka Bar and Golden Ticket! I didn't mention a pencil box with scented pencils and erasers though.

Definitely looking forward to Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, which, along with Ed Wood, I still consider one of Burton's best films.

Pee-Wee's Big Adventure on Blu-Ray WILL be in my daughter's stocking this Christmas.
My father-in-law played it on DVD one day while we were visiting, and she completely loved it... and now she asks to watch it every time. She can recite several scenes by heart. You cannot imagine how funny it is to say "Francis is having his bath," and hear your 3-year-old respond (in a pretty good facsimile of Pee-Wee's voice) "Oh, really - where are they hosin' him down?" Watching her do the "Tequila" dance is pretty good, too.
