PURPLE REIGN! KOBE AND CO. BROUGHT THE TITLE BACK TO HOLLYWOOD NOW ITS TIME TO CELEBRATE HISTORY WITH THE RELEASE OF THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS 2008-2009 NBA CHAMPIONS ON DVD JULY 14, 2009! With the mark of a champion, The Finals MVP and co. delivered a Hollywood ending in 2009 as they rebounded full-circle and cruised to a 4-1 series defeat of Dwight Howard and the upstart Orlando Magic to capture their 15th NBA Championship in franchise history. Now, Warner Home Video (WHV) and the National Basketball Association (NBA) are teaming up to give Lakers fans a DVD commemorating their historic championship season with the release of the Los Angeles Lakers 2008-2009 NBA Champions DVD available for $24.98 SRP on July 14, 2009. The Los Angeles Lakers 2008-2009 NBA Champions DVD will give Lakers fans the opportunity to relive all the memorable victories and amazing moments from the team’s incredible run to Championship glory. Follow the team from training camp through the Finals and relive all the excitement of watching Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Derek Fisher, Lamar Odom and co. dismantle the competition and bring the title back to LA. First, watch the Lakers roll through the regular season and finish with the best record in the Western Conference for the 2ndconsecutive season. Next, witness the Lakers’ triumphant Western Conference playoff run as they roll over a veteran Utah Jazz team in the 1st round, emerge victorious over a gritty Houston Rockets bunch in Round 2 and then plow through an upstart Denver Nuggets en route to earning their 30th Conference title. The final piece to the Championship puzzle would not come easy as the Lakers would go up against a battle tested Orlando Magic team led by their superstar Dwight Howard. With “Superman” leading the way Orlando shocked the world by dethroning the 2008 Champ Boston Celtics and then overcame LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers to win their first Eastern Conference title since 1995. In the series billed as Disneyland vs. Disney World, the high-flying Magic would prove to be no match for the mighty Lakers and Finals MVP Kobe Bryant however. The pivotal moment in the series came with LA up 2-1 and the series on the brink of being tied when it was another veteran Laker who would come through in the clutch as point guard Derek Fisher’s deep three sent a critical game four into overtime where the Lakers would go on to win and regain the momentum back in the series. In Game 5 the Lakers went on to finish the Magic off and give their coach Phil Jackson his 10th NBA Championship ring, breaking the record he had shared with Red Auerbach. “The 2009 Lakers team was a special group of young and veteran players who all stepped up in the clutch when it mattered most and brought another NBA Championship back to the city of Los Angeles,” said Don Polite, WHV Director, Sports & Fitness Marketing. “We are proud to give Lakers fans a DVD keepsake that will allow them to cherish every big game, crucial moment and lasting memory from their remarkable season.”
