Burbank, Calif., November 22, 2010 – Timed to coincide with the fifth anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons Online® (ddo.com), the world’s best free to play massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG), Warner Home Video today announced the Blu-ray Disc™ debut of a special double feature of fantasy favorites, Dungeons & Dragons and Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God. Available at retail February 15 and packed with tons of extras, including a Dungeons & Dragons Online® game points gift card, this sought after collection will bring hours of entertainment to orcs and half-orcs alike. The movies, based on the 35-year old franchise and original game designed by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson first published in 1974, have sold 2.3 million units on DVD and VHS life-to-date (Nielsen). Orders are due January 18 (SRP $19.98).

Building momentum for the upcoming release, Warner Home Video and Turbine, Inc., the creator and operator of Dungeons & Dragons Online®, will be partnering on a number of cross-promotional activities to promote the Dungeons & Dragons Blu-ray Double Feature with the online game. Dungeons & Dragons will also be available On Demand and for permanent download from Warner Bros. Digital Distribution.

Based on the massively popular sword-and-fantasy role-playing game with millions of fans, the original Dungeons & Dragons stars Jeremy Irons (Reversal of Fortune), Thora Birch (American Beauty), Marlon Wayans (Scary Movie franchise), and Justin Whalin (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman). The film was directed by Courtney Solomon, founder of After Dark Films and director of An American Haunting starring Donald Sutherland.

    ABOUT THE FILMS

Who will be the dominator of worlds? Destiny belongs to those who dare in Dungeons & Dragons, a thunderous fantasy adventure inspired by the popular role-play game. Thora Birch and Marlon Wayans are among the forces of good defending the Empire of Izmer from the diabolical grasp of mage Profion (Jeremy Irons). The past is prologue when the evil returns years later to avenge what transpired in Izmer. Can five young stalwarts thwart the fiendish traps, spectral ghouls and mighty armies of hell? The answer – and the thrilling spectacle – comes in Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God.

    Nice!

Ok, the first one was a mess and I've never watched the sequel, but it seemed better. i'll probably add this one in my collection if the price is good in Canada, since I'm a fan of Epic/Medieval/Fantasy movies even if they are not so great!! :)

Thanks a lot for the news Ron.

D&D 2 wasn't great, but it was fun in its own way.

I actually got to see it on the big screen, and it was quite enjoyable. I'll be getting the set as well.

That said, the "commentary track with actual D&D players" (also present on the on the D&D 2 DVD) is best left alone.
