Apparently two shorts are missing out of the collection, MOUSE CLEANING and CASANOVA CAT. MOUSE CLEANING was supposedly being "restored" when Volume 1 came out as they had found the original nitrate successive exposure camera negative (a rare find for a T&J short, as most of the original negs went up in a fire at the Eastman House years ago) yet it doesn't appear to be in Volume 2 either. The PC Police have struck again. Also, here's hoping HIS MOUSE FRIDAY will not be altered as it was on the previous DVD edition. Maybe the two missing shorts will be included in Volume 3, though that throws them out of sequence chronologically.

It will be very disappointing if the studio fails to release those shorts unaltered, or at all, on this set.

Looks like the "Golden Collection" is not going to be as definitive as it was hyped up to be. Apparently all of the content disclaimers and packaging claiming these are intended for the "Adult Collector" doesn't mean anything in practice. Hopefully, this is a mistake on the currently circulating product info.

Here's hoping House Cleaning and Casanova Cat are included in the supplements. Warner may not want them on the regular listings so they can have the non-skippable PC instructive text play before them. IIRC, that's how some of the material was handled for the Looney Tunes Platinum Vol. 2 release.

So far, no except that there are 42 cartoons in the set. The specifics are just insider info regarding the contents, so there is a chance the current disc information is incorrect until there is an official content listing. An example is the initially reported content listing of LT Platinum Collection #2 which differed from what ended up on disc.

Before getting in a tizzy about all of this we need to find out the final specs, and if this still has the involvement of Jerry Beck, I can understand WB’s position as to not want to offend anyone. Here is the issue, these are a produce of their time, good, bad or indifferent. But WB seems really good at cranking out new T&J features aimed at kids , so “Mom” walking in Wal-Mart or wherever picks up Vol. 2 takes it home and oh my they are seeing something that they think shouldn’t be there. Maybe WB needs to make this a little bigger on the back.
Tom and Jerry Golden Collection Vol. 2 Is intended for the Adult Collector and May Not Be Suitable for Children
These need to be done corectly , no ommisions, no censorship, if they want to include the editid redrawn toons as bonus features i am ok with that , but the originials should be presented corectly.

Home Entertainment is set to unveil another volume of Tom and Jerry classics with the release of Tom and Jerry The Golden Collection Volume 2. Available in stores June 11, 2013, this must-own set will feature a definitive lineup of 42 re-mastered theatrical shorts directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Tom and Jerry’s escapades have never looked better on the small screen. Each cartoon has been re-mastered from the best surviving/earliest generation film elements, in order to create a reproduction that is most faithful to the original. Blu-ray™ technology further delivers superior picture quality, allowing viewers to experience these legendary classics in a whole new way.Tom and Jerry The Golden Collection Volume 2 will retail for $26.99 SRP (standard DVD) and $34.99 SRP (Blu-ray).
Tom and Jerry have chased their way over the funny bones and into the hearts of moviegoers, television viewers and Internet users for generations. The iconic team’s most memorable adventures are featured inside this delightful two-disc collection of 42 re-mastered shorts and bonus material.
Among the 42 cartoons showcased on Tom and Jerry The Golden Collection Volume 2, three are Academy Award® winners (Best Short Subject: Cartoons). They include The Little Orphan, in which Jerry takes care of Nibbles, a hungry little mouse who causes chaos at the Thanksgiving table; The Two Mousketeers, which features Jerry and Nibbles as two mousketeers who try to help themselves to a banquet that Tom is guarding; and lastly,Johann Mouse, which stars Jerry as a music-loving, little mouse who lives with composer, Johann Strauss in Vienna.
The collection also showcases two Academy Award® nominated shorts (Best Short Subject: Cartoons). These include Hatch Up Your Troubles, which features a baby woodpecker who thinks Jerry is his mother and Jerry’s Cousin, which has Jerry summon the help of his cousin, aptly named Muscles, to show him how to defend himself against Tom.
Other featured cartoons include, Just Ducky, in which Jerry teaches Quacker, a darling baby duckling, how to swim and Smitten Kitten, which features Tom, who falls head over heels for a beautiful feline, prompting his losing all interest in chasing after Jerry. The tussling twosome conduct an orchestra in Tom and Jerry in the Hollywood Bowl. In Saturday Evening Puss, Jerry’s beauty sleep is interrupted when Tom invites his buddies over for a party that includes plenty of loud music. In Tennis Chumps, all sorts of bad things happen to Tom; his racket catches fire, he becomes tangled in the net and swallows a bunch of tennis balls before he looses the match to Jerry, who wins a trophy.
Bonus material on the DVD includes six new commentaries and an all-new featurette, Animal Antics: The Friends and Foes of Tom and Jerry.
Originally created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, Tom and Jerry centers on the never-ending rivalry between Tom the cat and Jerry the mouse. The plots of each short usually center on Tom’s attempts to capture Jerry. Jerry however, is clever and quick on his feet so Tom hardly ever manages to catch him. The original series is notable for having won the Academy Award® for Best Short Subject: Cartoon seven times.
Tom and Jerry The Golden Collection Volume 2 is intended for the adult collector and may not be suitable for children.
“Our goal was to bring these legendary classics fully restored to their original beauty through today’s technology,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, Vice President Family & Animation Marketing and Partner Brands. She added, “If you want to experience these cartoons the way moviegoers originally did decades ago, uncut and unedited, Tom and Jerry The Golden Collection Volume 2 is a must-own DVD.”

Yes, that press release has the same list of cartoons on it that I saw the other day. No MOUSE CLEANING or CASANOVA CAT to be found. And I'm hoping that HIS MOUSE FRIDAY isn't altered as it was in the original DVD set.

They just reused a TV print for His Mouse Friday (why they didn't do the same for Mouse Cleaning and Casanova Cat, I don't know) for the Spotlight Collection. However, they're suppose to be remastering these from some of the best available elements, so for it to have the same censorship, WHV would have to go out of its way to do it. I'd assume it will be unaltered, but at this rate we might as well wait and see.

If this is in fact a censorship issue, then the Warner Brothers team are idiots who don;t understand the possibilities of authoring Blurays so that the consumer is in complete control of what they are watching. Very disappointing. I'll still buy these to have the toons, but it's a shame this censorship garbage is still happening in this day and age.

It seems disingenous to promote these shorts as "uncut and unedited" when they are being presented chronologically and 2 of the shorts have been deliberately yanked out of that chronology.
Is it possible that the missing shorts are being held back for a Blu ray release of the Looney Tunes Censored 11 (plus bonus shorts!) collection?
I would not agree with this approach, but it might at least explain that the studio is making the shorts available and is not repeating their errors made in the Spotlight Collections.

Ok, so we now have confirmation and what a shame it is. It indeed seems disingenuous to present the complete Tom and Jerry run, chronologically over the course of several volumes, yet pull two of the films while claiming - in the same breath - that the series is "uncut and unedited." Maybe someday T&J will see a proper release. With the color balance issue, or whatever it was, on Volume 1 and now this with Volume 2, I'm staying as far away from this series as I did the Spotlight Collections (which now hardly seem left in the dust like they should have been). I love T&J, but I don't own a single DVD of theirs.

It's possible, though it really seems inappropriate. These two cartoons just have a 5-10 second gag of offensive material, while the "banned" episodes revolve around controversial subject matter which generally kept them off the air.

This was suggested in the other thread on this release. I wouldn't agree with it either, and it would not be the way to go. The Censored 11 set should be for the Looney Tunes only. Extras should relate to the eleven films or other un-PC material from Termite Terrace. MGM has nothing to do with it. And it wouldn't excuse the omission of the two cartoons on this set anyway.

The absurd thing about omitting these cartoons from a chronological collection is that Mouse Cleaning and Casanova Cat were released on laserdisc without any apparent controversy.
