Hi John Chu, I live near Toronto and you are right, the 2803 lists for 1100 CDN but I received a quote of 969 and I probably could have talked them down to 900 if I bought that night. I have been comparing receivers for almost a year and the 2803 seems to be the best value around.
I would not go with the 3803 deal from the States because if you have any problems, the shipping costs to send back would be expensive. I will be buying my 2803 very soon from a local dealer because I want to be able to go to the store in case of any difficulties or set up questions. Keep me posted on your purchase.
Andrew - You asked if you can still get the deal. I'd suggest giving them a call and asking. If it's now for $698, I'd suggest you tell them no thanks (if you're willing to wait) - maybe they will come down when they see a sale walk out of the door.
Also, with CES approaching in just a short while, there's talk of a new Denon being offered. If that is indeed the case, I'd think that the 3803 will drop in price.
I'm going to give this a try later (assuming they're open today). My one concern is that the 3802 is now IN stock and the 3803 is out of stock so the substitute for out of stock argument is not gonna hold.
We'll see.
Update: Called them. Told them I was interested in a Denon receiver and the sales guy knew immediately what I wanted. I took the $698 price - good enough for me. $0.06 shipping. 21 days for delivery as the Website says. Even if the 3803 is about to be replaced, this is a killer deal. As for 6ave sales staff - very friendly.
The 3802 is discontinued and will never be in stock again from what I've been told. I did that deal when it was for $648.06 a couple months ago and have never been happier after I got it set-up.
