While I enjoyed TDK, it looks like I'm one of the few who thought "Iron Man" was a much superior adaptation of the original work. Oh well. Here's my Top-10 for the year (thus far)

3. Gran Torino
4. Man On Wire

A week or so ago I put SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE at #1 and said I doubted anything would beat it. Well, I update my list to drop it down to #2 and put THE READER as the best.

Caught Revolutionary Road and Vicky Cristina Barcelona over the weekend. RR gets insterted at #3 behind Encounters and Milk and VCB comes in at a theoretical #11. Great movie, but didn't quite get four stars from me.

I've replaced Sarah Marshall with Wanted.

I've also put the link to the previous year's top tens. Now if a moderator could change the title of the thread...

Man, I dont think I *SAW* 10 movies this year, let alone saw movies that were good enough to actually rank. The only flicks I saw this year that I actually enjoyed were Indy and Speed Racer.

A double dip this afternoon of Revolutionary Road and The Wrestler have altered the list significantly.

How are Aronofsky and especially Mendes not getting more praise for these two films? I mean, I find The Wrestler the lesser of Darren's work but it's masterfully done. Being a former fan of wrestling, the ins and outs of that life style hit me pretty hard. But, it's the ending that won me over. The ending vaulted the film into the top ten of 2008.

But, damn, Mendes can't seem to get a break over his last two films. Jarhead and now Road are just splendid films. And, I now know why Winslet won last night for best actress in a drama. My goodness. This lady can do anything. She is the greatest actress of her generation by a mile. And that's no slight to the other Cate. And DiCaprio just doesn't get enough praise for the body of work he has done lately. I just don't know what it'll take for people to see past the boyish face of DiCaprio. He's a actor, through and through.

OK, finally posting my Top 10 of 2008. I still have no desire to see "Benjamin Button". . .

1. In Bruges
2. Frost/Nixon
3. Frozen River
4. The Life Before Her Eyes*
5. Burn After Reading
6. My Blueberry Nights*
6. Snow Angels*
7. Rocknrolla
8. The Wrestler
9. The Reader
10. Slumdog Millionaire

The *ed films actually had 2007 releases in certain parts of the world or in film festivals. Decided to look at the general U.S. release date.
