That must have been a rather old article (end of August?). The "money to side HD DVD" has been dispelled and was widely and thoroughly discussed anyway. And the recent discussion in this thread is about NL going neutral, because, as they say, they're following their parent company Warner.
"Well since Mi Casa Multimedia is doing the soundtracks for New Line, just like they did with DVD, I took a gander over at their website. They list quite a few new 7.1 soundtracks in development for HD and all are New Line titles. Looks like we'll see:
Harold and Kumar 2 The Golden Compass Money Talks Frequency Nightmare on Elm Street The Butterfly Effect A History of Violence Rush Hour Rush Hour 2 The Last Mimzy Dark City: The Director's Cut Tenacious D The Pick of Destiny"
A History of Violence is a very good film, don't think I'll be buying it though. Elm Street is a maybe during a BOGO sale. The rest of the list doesn't do much for me.
A bit suprised that the Blade films and The Mask aren't being prepped, they seemed a shoe-in to me.
No mention of Se7en is a bit dissapointing but I'm not so surprised at no mention for LOTR. I'm starting to think that we'll have a Star Wars/Indiana Jones-like wait for these.
Would love to have Dark City however they must keep the Roger Ebert commentary track! It's one of my favorite, and arguably best, commentary tracks available.
I liked Dark City, but not enough to purchase it. Not crazy about their first batch of titles - I'd like to see their next batch. I'd buy Boogie Nights, Magnolia, The Sweet Hereafter, Short Cuts and Night on Earth in a heartbeat.
IIRC, Ebert said he recorded a new commentary for the Dark City: Director's Cut a while ago, as in pre-health issues in 2006 "while ago". I don't think he was clear on whether he recorded the whole thing over or just the newly added parts.
Hmmm... If New Line is only providing DTS-HD/MA for all their titles going forward, guess I'm gonna have to shop for a new prepro. :frowning: Seems like they don't even include a DTS 1.5Mbps core, if Hairspray is any indication...
