I am still working on a solution to the problem of having a cable box with a digital coax audio output that I would like to connect to the fiber optic TV/SAT input on my receiver. One forum member said he had once tackled the problem with a digital coax to optical converter. This sounds interesting, but where can I find such a converter?

I answered my own question thanks to Google! Cablestogo.com had just what I needed. Man do I love the internet! Circuit City, Best Buy and Radio Shack all told me they had never heard of such a device.

I would suspect that the quality of the sound would not be a big improvement over a coax.
If it's not too expensive, then you may as well try it.

Radio Shack also has part 15-1228 for about $15. The clerks at your local store may not have understood your request.
