Sad to hear the bad news Jack, hope you get back in the groove soon, some great advice already on this thread, keep on trying, and keep watching 2001 and Zardoz to stay sane (?), I hope everything works out for you.
Good Luck.
Your friend Steve.

Would teaching be an option for you? If not full time maybe as a sub. It seems we constantly hear of school districts complaining about not having enough qualified teachers. It may not pay much but its worth considering.
Good luck.

People, you've brightened my day. There's something about the good folks at the Home Theater Forum--I feel the warmth.
As for unemployment insurance, I qualified! For the highest rate, too. Check's in the mail (speedy, huh?). However, given the cost of living here in Lotus land, the unemployment insurance can only cover my expenses. I'll need that freelance gig to pay the exhorbitant rent.
Hugh Jackes: I received your e-mail and replied. Please check it out. Thanks. And Jason, I am definitely going to be checking out the jobs offered by the state (I'm printing this thread out!). At my age, I really like the idea of near-guaranteed job security. Thanks for the advice.
And everyone: Thanks for your advice and comforting words. You're all wonderful people.
I agree about professional writing/editing in general: It does seem as if it is inevitable that something will pop up. My serious concern, of course, is the time factor.
Again, my HTF friends are great. Love ya all!
