This might not be the answer you are looking for, but in the late 70's, the films MIDWAY and ROLLERCOASTER were released with "Sensurround". Although promoted as some kind of musical/electrical effect, it was basically the inclusion of extreme LFE. A few lucky theaters were equipped with big subs to translate the effect. The DVD of rollercoaster tries to translate the effect. It has Dolby 1.1 sound. Center and sub.

Hehe, this made me think that home theater buffs need to start marking years as BLFE and ALFE, rather than B.C. and A.D. :D
