What I've read about the non-reflective front for the iMac isn't that they'll suddenly offer a matte option, but rather that they're working with a manufacturing on making a reduced reflectivity glass to replace the current "near mirror like reflective" glass.
Having a 2006 matte MBP and a 2010 glossy MBP, I can definitely appreciate the lack of glare on the 2006 version, but I've already scratched the matte with the most minute impact on it. I don't have to worry about that with the glossy because it's protected. I doubt Apple will introduce a matte on the iMac because of the potential damage risk.
