What I've read about the non-reflective front for the iMac isn't that they'll suddenly offer a matte option, but rather that they're working with a manufacturing on making a reduced reflectivity glass to replace the current "near mirror like reflective" glass.
Having a 2006 matte MBP and a 2010 glossy MBP, I can definitely appreciate the lack of glare on the 2006 version, but I've already scratched the matte with the most minute impact on it. I don't have to worry about that with the glossy because it's protected. I doubt Apple will introduce a matte on the iMac because of the potential damage risk.

Good news if you want a 15" but still no mention of the 17"

(I'll stop whining sooner or later) :)

What will you do if Apple says they are not going to make it in 17? Don't forget they killed off the 12" which was beloved by "power users" for years.

Hmmm. My guess is that they will not kill off the 17" model.

It's too popular.

My guess is that they will release it later in the Summer. Now
whether it will be as slim-formed as the rumored 15" is anybody's
guess.

What makes you think it's popular? Because Pro video editors like it? We've already seen how beholden Apple is to their whims.
I don't think they will kill it, but I'm not confident it's a priority for them.
what would concern me more is if they kill the added graphics cards. The 4000 simply isn't up to snuff for gaming but we know Apple doesn't consider hardcore gaming as critical a market sector as casual gaming is for them....

One look on the popular Mac discussion boards shows you
how many people want the 17" Macbook Pro.

I have already looked through several this morning.

I don't think they will kill it either. After all, those of us that
pick the 17" models do so because it is the closest we can
bring the desktop experience to portable.

As an owner of a 17" I would be very apprehensive about
going to anything smaller unless I was forced to. I think there
are many who probably feel the same way.

Appreciated, but no surprise to any of us who already
know about new chips, revamps and operating systems
on the way.

Reminder that Apple releases quarterly financials Tuesday afternoon and has historically liked to launch new products the next day or the next tuesday afterwards. So, maybe but don't count on it.

Kind of a "hey look how much money we made" followed by a "hey, this is how come we make so much money" series of messages. :D
Looking forward to it, but am prepared to be disappointed.

I don't know if it means anything but I just checked the refurb section in Apple's online store and they have more models in stock than I have every seen before.

Clearing out the old models?

Could be Keith. Also seen sales for MBPs at Best Buy and Frys which normally don't have markdowns on Apple products (at least BB doesn't).

This stinks! To quote Bulldog from Frasier.
I've been waiting for the 17" update. I suppose if a 15" or 13" is much more powerful with the new Ivy Bridge CPU, I could deal with it and get a Thunderbolt display to bring with me when I do work at a client's location.
Maybe it's time also to ponder the very last 17" MBP and Mac Pro's if it is indeed the last of the line for both. While the last MBP 17" may not be as powerful, you have the screen size. For my work though, I need the most powerful CPU I can get.

I was starting to think the product pipeline was the worst in a decade (only 1 new product in the first 5 months of 2012!) but then I saw this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_Apple_Inc._products
And recognized: Oh yeah we had the crappy Apple TV update too, and actually I remember more early in the year releases than there really have been, and May is still early =)

Apparently Samsung is having an event tomorrow to announce some new mobile products. I wonder if Apple would attempt to steal some of their thunder by announcing new hardware?

Edit: Guess not.
