Coincidentally, I was at my mom's this afternoon configuring her new HD STB and Samsung 40" 1080p LCD (wow!) and one of the movie stations was running Se7en in 1080i in OAR. Looked fantastic, and truly whet my appetite. One of my favorite films.

On the 6 month anniversary of the last time I answered this question, I am updating my list by crossing out what has been released:

* Kill Bill 1&2
* X-Men 2 - and the first one too.
* The Island - science fiction in high def, mmm.
* Chronicles of Riddick (both films) - less mmm but ditto.
* Moulin Rouge - such a visually rich film.
* Battlestar Galactica (new series)
* Minority Report
* A.I Artificial Intelligence
* Serenity the disappointing sequel to the Firefly tv series is still worth owning.
* Leon (The Professional)
* La Femme Nikita (the movie)
* The Life Aquatic - the best film about middle age, ever. Ever!
* Mulholland Drive
* My Super Ex-Girlfriend - ok so I like Uma, what can I say. It was a funny movie.
* the first two Bourne Identity movies, maybe.

My verdict: Wow, a half a year later and there's still next-to-nothing of what I want on BluRay! I had to make do with some alternate choices.

So I guess my "What Titles Would You Like to see on Blu-Ray?" list for 2009 is the same list as from 2008.

To be fair, a couple of those titles (X2, BSG, Bourne films) have been announced or leaked for this year, and a couple more (Moulin Rouge, Leon, Riddick films) are likely due to tie-ins.

The titles crossed out indicate a purchase has been made (e.g. The Bourne Trilogy which I placed an order for this morning) or currently own. While Paramount hasn't officially announced the first six "Star Trek" films, it looks very likely the theatrical cuts will be released for "The Motion Picture", "The Wrath of Khan", and "The Undiscovered Country". If there are no problems with both the audio and video on these, I'll make additional updates.

Jericho: Season 1 (especially with the original music restored)
The Freshman (1990): Special Edition
Scrooge (1970): Special Edition
Beautiful Girls
Friday Night Lights: Season 1 (especially with the original music restored)
Friday Night Lights: Season 2 (especially with the original music restored)
Friday Night Lights: Season 3 (especially with the original music intact)
The Bourne Identity
The Bourne Supremacy
The Bourne Ultimatum
Star Trek: The Motion Picture (especially the original theatrical cut)
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (especially the original theatrical cut)
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (especially the original theatrical cut)
Star Trek: Generations
Star Trek: First Contact
Star Trek: Insurrection
The X-Files: Fight the Future

A great list with both visual feasts and timeless classics !
With regard to being visually stunning and large format I would like to add these:

55 Days at Peking
Khartoum

Both are not even out in a competent DVD version and IMO should make a direct jump to a day and date Blu-Ray and DVD-release.

Mmmm...Sirens. Elle Macpherson, Portia de Rossi, and Kate Fischer nude and in hi-def would be quite the spectacle.

Apart from a lot of the films already mentioned above, all of P.T. Anderson's films, please
htf_images_smilies_smile.gif
. They would look amazing on Blu.
And also the Qatsi trilogy, although there are rumors Criterion is working on a release.

LOTR.

They could release nothing else all year, and I'd still be happy.

But I'd also like to see Blue Velvet on blu.
