What Receiver Works Best With a Pioneer SP-PK22BS (1 Viewer)

So I just bought the Pioneer SP-PK22BS http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Home/Home-Theater-Systems/Speaker-Packages/SP-PK22BS I am wondering what receiver should I get with this.The main things the system will be used for is watching TV/ Movies, and playing XBOX 360. Maybe even used with the Ipad or Ipod That's really about it. The wife and I are tired of trying to watch TV and we can barely hear anything without the volume level up to the 40 or 50 mark. And no we are not deaf the TV speakers just suck. LOL I was looking at the Onkyo's, Denon's, Yamaha, and Pioneer receivers. I am trying not to spend anymore than $400.00 if this helps. I have done a lot of research on here, but with so many to choose from I just thought I would ask the experts and see what all of you think is best. Thanks everyone for your time and hope to get some good feedback on what choice to make. On a side note I am not sure about the room size because we are fixing to move into a new place and I am not sure of the dimensions.

It looks like the issues were worked out, if you take a look at the last page of the thread. I was about to suggest the 1122 as well, but not the 616. It has A LOT of HDMI problems apparently that haven't been worked out.

My only real complaint about Onkyo receivers is you have to get to the 818 to get a good version of Audyssey (and the 818 has MultEQ XT32). The lower models only have 2EQ. Denon gets you MultEQ with the 1613. The Pioneer 1122 has the Advanced version of MCACC. I'm not sure if Audyssey is better than MCACC or anything else since I don't care for any of them. But Advanced MCACC gives you 6 EQ presets which also memorize individual speaker volumes. Now that I like. You lose quite a bit when you drop down to the 1022 which is/was $249 at Newegg.com. Here's the Product Sheet for the 1122. I bet just about any receiver would work O.K. with those Pioneer speakers for most listeners, even at 6 ohms and 85-88 db spl. I can't imagine Pioneer would release entry level speakers that shouldn't be used with an entry level receiver. But, more power is always a good thing. We often recommend factory refurbished receivers from ac4l.com. The "right AVR" is the one with the connections you need and the speaker layout you want. Do you want 5.1, 7.1 or 5.1+ height/width? Want networking/Apple/Droid support? Need any composite/component inputs? Need toslink or digital coax? Need/want 2nd/3rd zone? Want pre-preouts?

I know I am going to feel out of place, but Schan what does that all mean. I know what 5.1 and 7.1 mean, but the other stuff is a foreign language. I really do appreciate your help though. I am just looking for a receiver that will let me have a nice quality sound that is of good quality and that will last me for a while. I would love to have a system that when I am watching a movie, a football game, or playing games on the XBOX will have a great effect. I am sorry if I sound out of place. Height/width is Audyssey DSX, DPL IIz and Yamaha Presence. Pioneer also has height/width, but I think theirs is their own version...like Yamaha Presence. Otherwise...what else was confusing? I listed a bunch of stuff...If you understand "Apple support" or "Droid support" I don't need to explain those...nor do I have to if you don't have any Apple devices or a Droid phone. We all started somewhere. And the "sonic difference" between a $250 and a $650 AVR is negligible...at best. In a "blind listen" most people can't tell the difference between two different AVR manufacturers.

BB will price match as long as the price is legit. Source of said price is irrelevant. I had them price match an online price from Direct Buy on a deep freeze. I've also had them price match an open-box item with a open-box price warehouse deal on Amazon.

So I took the Pioneer SP-PK22BS back to BB and got the Pioneer Elite VSX-42 Receiver and the Pioneer SP-PK52FS speaker system. Wow this thing is nice. Very easy to hook up and the sound quality is nice. I like that BB does price matching. Got the receiver for $380 and the SP-PK52FS for $450.00 and I still have 30 days to price match.
