Ron, have you ever seen the Carol Burnett Show spoof of Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman? Carol nailed Louise Lasser perfectly.

It's funny. I find Laura Petrie to be smokin' hot. Mary Richards, not so much.

This once beloved thread is now striking me as annoying.

How about the opposite? Anything you used to dislike you now like?

I know he's been gone for sometime now, but I miss Howard Cosell. Hated him back in the day, now wish he was still around. Maybe it's just nostalgia.

I liked Louise Lasser when she did a one-shot on Mary Tyler Moore.

How about Lou Marie? Lew Parker played the character well, but it was so one-note it got tiring, you just wanted him to finally treat Ann like an adult and treat Donald with respect.

Lew Parker once in a while tried to convey a little respect for Donald that wasn't on the page, but, yes, he definitely needed Rosemary deCamp's Mrs. Marie to soften him up. They did not use her nearly enough.

Loved Louise Lasser's bit on MTM! "Mary... Mary... don't turn away!"
I had the opposite reaction to Lou Marie. He is one I softened up to as an adult. I found him annoying as a kid, but now I think he's kind of sweet in his devotion to his daughter. I also see so much more of what Lew Parker brought to the role. And I also agree they didn't use Rosemary nearly enough.

Geez, there are so many. The entire cast of Vegas in the seventies. That twobyfour they cast as McGarrett on the new H50.

    Hi John!

In THE DUENNA, though Ricky does appear at the Restaurant, it is David who has the date with the Mexican girl, not Ricky! This episode (Which I have on Mill Creek Entertainment's 4 DVD Set FUN WITH OZZIE & HARRIET.) is nevertheless, hilarious! Thank you very much for pointing it out!

    CHEERS!

Should have given my assent on this one much sooner because yes, this is why "One Day At A Time" is yet another unwatchable Lear sitcom for me. The only thing I could figure out was that MIZ Romano had just decided to one day get a divorce because she was now totally into feminist doctrine. Her ex-husband was never depicted as having done anything wrong to merit that, it was just giving us the gimmick of "Let's do a sitcom about a divorced woman with teen kids" which had never been done before and never mind the fact that the whole premise behind it was totally ridiculous (I suppose if they had established her ex-husband as a drunken abusive lout or something like that, it would have made it difficult to sell the show as a comedy)

And has anyone ever commented on the fact that Bonnie Franklin was only 31 years old when she was cast as a mother of two teenaged children?? They did later establish I think that she got married at 17, but even then it was still a stretch (to show how they were determined to not cast someone the right age for this role, I have read that before they went with Franklin, they wanted Jo Ann Pflug who turned it down).

Pat Harrington's Schneider I'll admit did become something of a TV icon in that era, but that in itself revealed how the show's lead was ultimately the weak link of the show overall. It's amazing they got 11 years out of it but the fact that it's had no afterlife of note says something about it's shelf life.

The guy was never "beloved" to me but the "Weeping Willy" character of Harry King Cole on Hee Haw has to be one of the most annoying characters I've ever saw. The guy never did anything but do a stupid weeping act every skit he was in.

I never cared for George Lindsey as Goober Pyle either. I didn't care for him on TAGS or Hee Haw.

For me it would be the entire cast of ALICE. They are all a bunch of screeching, screaming goofballs.

A thread full of my favorite characters. :*(

    But...

The Andy in color. (love the b&w Andy...but in color he got overly grumpy)
Dr. Smith from Lost in Space. I hate that... the whole show after the first season quickly becomes tedious. Again, added color somehow goes along with it.
Dr. Bellows for me too. :(

    For starters... :P
