A co-worker and I were talking about candy, and I vaguely recall this one he described. The candy itself is like a flatter Hershey's Kiss, and it came packaged in a tube (he calls it like a toilet paper roll) wrapped in red foil. He says it's chocolate, but doesn't taste like a Hershey's kiss. Do they make this anymore?

Any ideas? Thanks!

Weird. Are those a West Coast thing? I have NEVER heard or seen them before. The look pretty good!

No, it looks nationwide when you click the "where to buy" tab, but very select locations. And I think they are often available at the "flicks".

Interesting....

I haven't seen those for years. IIRC the last time I had some was back around 1970. I wonder if the Flicks Co. in Fresno has been making them all these years or if it is a reconstituted company making nostalgia items.

"You want a Walnetto?"

I remember getting Flicks at the "flicks" when I was a kid. Back then, they were made by the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company.

That's what I was going to suggest but they weren't really flat. I have never heard of Flicks.

Haha. That line just reminded me of Happy Gilmore.

Shooter McGavin: "I eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast!"

I did try the new Flicks, and they don't QUITE taste the same. I gave them to a couple friends, who also agreed -- not quite right. The originals were sort of waxy, and had a malty flavor. These do have a malty flavor, but don't have that waxy "snap" when you bite into them, and also have a slightly bitter taste to the chocolate.

My co-worker did finally buy some Flicks at one of the places listed on the company site. Neither of us liked it now. Oh well. . .

Brian, your use of "malty" reminds me of Horlicks. I loved those little tablet candies in the bottles. I don't think they make them anymore, but my co-worker found some boxed "Horlicks" tablets made in Malaysia or somewhere. They tasted OK.
